Three players have been shortlisted for the FIFA 2012 Ballon d'Or award. Iniesta, C Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. The award has over the years become a benchmark to determine the overall best player of the year.
Let's take a look at the trio's plaudits this year. Iniesta has not done bad for himself, he might not have recorded or record many goals, but the Barcelona midfielder has been nstrumental to most of the goals scored in and outside Camp Nou, worthy of note is his sublime passes/dribbling skills . He picked the European best player at the just concluded Euro 2012 world cup.
Real Madrid hitman, Cristiano Ronaldo has equally had and still having an awesome season, netting most goals in his club. Ronaldo this year created an outstanding record as the first Portuguese, infact the first player in the history of the competition to score against all 19 rival teams in one season.
His Barcelona Nemesis, Lionel Messi isn't taking the back seat either. Messi has remained sensational, breaking series of goal-scoring records. Some awards he clinched this year include Pichichi award, LaLiga player of the year award amongst others.
Will Iniesta pick his first, Ronaldo 2nd or Lionel Messi his 4th Ballon d'Or gong? Keep those fingers locked. The winner will be announced by January 2013.
