It's just for a while, for tomorrow's World Cup qualifier with San Marino to be precise. Not that Steven Gerrard has been permanently stripped off England captaincy, he's faced with suspension and so Manchester United striker, Wayne Rooney has been chosen to step into the role.
Reacting to the honour, 26 year-old Rooney, who captained the team once in 2009 said, "It's a big challenge for myself, I'm really looking forward to it and excited, and hopefully we can cap the day off with a good victory."
