Unemployed Nigerian graduates might start earning N19,800 monthly.

If the report in PUNCH is anything to go by, then unemployed graduates in Nigeria might start earning the same allowance that is given to members of the National Youth Service Corps, which is, N19,800 monthly. Though it hasn’t been accepted/implemented by the Federal Government yet, the suggestion was made by the Committee on Law, Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Reform at the Confab.

A member of the committee believes that paying unemployed graduates

will help reduce crime rates in the country. A committee member who craved anonymity stated that,

“The recommendation is our own way of finding solutions to the rising wave of crime in the country and to also force the government to do the needful for the increasing number of unemployed graduates in the country. We have done our part and it is left for the delegates to either reject or accept it at plenary.”
