The 2014 edition of the TEDXAkure; an event which will feature individuals who have made a mark or carved a niche for themselves in their respective careers is set to hold this week. Themed, “Pursuit of Happiness”, the event is aimed at inspiring young people, middle aged and old individuals across Nigeria. Speakers will inspire creativity, share mind-shifting stories, and engage their physical and virtual audience in ways that every individual deserves. TEDxAkure has two major events: The Adult event – TEDxAkure (Pursuit of happiness) and The Teen event – TEDxKidsAkure (Creating the spark). Both events will hold on 4th and 5th April 2014.
According to the organizers, “TEDxAkure focuses on transforming how people ”Dream, Act, Succeed and Share”. The inspiration for our theme was gotten from the movie ‘the pursuit of happiness’, a movie that highlighted that persistence, focus, hard work and diligence are necessary to attain fulfilment and job satisfaction in life. It showed to us that anything was possible if we believed and put our hearts to it. Most importantly, we want to build a collaborative team who are passionate about empowering Nigerians, and are as excited as we are about shaping, enriching and improving this event.”
