Vincent Enyeama named best goalkeeper in France

‎2 days into the New Year and Vincent Enyeama has started counting his blessings. The Nigeria/Lille stopper has been named the best  goalkeeper in Ligue 1 for 2014 by French Newspaper, L’Equipe.
This is the second successive year that the 32 year-old would be named Ligue’s 1’s best shot stopper.

Vincent Enyeama makes CAF Player of the Year shortlist

Nigeria/Lille skipper, Vincent Enyeama Ivory Coast and Manchester City striker, Yaya Toure, and Gabon midfielder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have made CAF 2014 African Player of the Year award shortlist.

A statement on the CAF official website reads. “The trio made the cut following votes from head coaches or technical directors of the National Associations affiliated with CAF. Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan and Ahmed Musa of Nigeria failed to make the final list.” 

The 2014 Glo-CAF awards will be held on 8th January, 2015 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Vincent Enyeama is the only Nigerian on Josimar's top 50 footballers in the world list.

Forget Nigeria’s shocking exit from AFCON 2015 qualifiers, we”ll continue to reiterate that veteran goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has had a really wonderful year both in his country home and club side.
The Super Eagles captain is the only Nigerian on Josimar, a Norwegian football journal’s top 50 players in the world 2014 list. He’s no 47 on the list. 2014 Ballon d’Or nominees; Cristiano Ronaldo, Manuel Neuer and Lionel Messi have unsurprisingly topped the list.

Yacine Brahimi beats Vincent Enyeama to win BBC African Footballer of the Year award.

‎Algeria forward, Yacine Brahimi, beat Nigeria’s Vincent Enyeama to win the the

2014 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.  ‎The 24 year-old Porto winger becomes the first Algerian to win the prestigious award.

An elated Brahimi told BBC Sport, “It’s a big honour for me to receive this wonderful trophy. I owe it to my country, Algeria, and to all the people who voted for me. It’s also a trophy for the whole of Africa, because it rewards an African player. So I am really very happy. This trophy is going to give me more strength, more desire to work, to get better, to learn so that I can keep having great performances.” ‎

Musa, Enyeama, make shortlist for CAF Player of the Year Awards

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the top five nominees for the 2014 African Player of the Year and the 2014 African Player of the Year (Based in Africa) in the Glo-Caf Awards and guess what, our very own Vincent Enyeama and Ahmed Musa made the cut. ‎
Asides the Super Eagles/Lille goalkeeper and the CSKA Moscow player, others on the list include Asamoah Gyan of Ghana and Al-Ain in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City Midfielder, Yaya Toure who also plays for. Cote d’Ivoire.

"CAF Award not important to me" – Vincent Enyeama

Seems Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama hasn’t gotten over Nigeria’s 2015 AFCON qualification failure or maybe he has but just baring his mind.
In an interview with SL10.ng, the 32 year-old who has been nominated for the CAF African player of the year and BBC African player of the year awards revealed that he is more concerned with team success than personal glory. He added that he”ll pick an AFCON qualification over winning CAF African Player of the year award.
“It’s not important to me and I’ve always been saying it because those are individual awards and if you ask me to choose, I would take the AFCON over the awards,”
He continued, “I really want to thank everyone that has been involved in making me get nominated and it’s a big honour for me as a Nigerian. It gives me pride and prestige and it would be great if we won it again and hopefully we will win it, but it’s about the team and not about me.”

Governor Babatunde Fashola, Blessing Okagbare, Vincent Enyeama, others shine at the Nigerian Sports Awards 2014.

The 2014 edition of the Nigerian Sports Awards, organized to reward deserving sports personalities in Nigeria took place at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos yesterday November 13, 2014.  The event was anchored by renowned sports broadcaster, Charles Anazodo and Adesuwa Adesua.
Present at the event include Lagos State’s Governor Babatunde Fashola who was honoured with the  Sports Governor of the year, others include veteran athlete and Lifetime Achievement award winner, Modupe Oshikoya, African table tennis champion Aruna Quadri, Sir Shina Peters, Fabio Olanipekun, Chuka Momoh, Aisha Falode, Mitchel Obi, Mumini Alao, Chioma Ajunwa, Rachel Oniga, Peter Rufai, Dosu Joseph, G.O.B. Olowu many other dignitaries.
The biggest winners of the night were Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama and African Sprints champio, Blessing Okagbare. While the Lille skipper picked up awards for Footballer of the year and the Sportsman of the year,  Blessing Okagbare on the other hand was awarded both Track and Field star of the year and Sportswoman of the year.

Vincent Enyeama reveals how he was isolated in France because of Ebola.

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama is one of many Nigerians (all Nigerians actually) who are happy to see the end of Ebola in the country. The BBC Footballer of the Year award nominee has revealed how he was isolated and monitored at his French club Lille because of the dreaded disease.

“My club monitors me for three weeks any time I return from Nigeria because of Ebola and nobody wants to sit around you or shake you then.”


“But I must now commend the Nigerian government for the massive effort they put up to eradicate it from the country and get an approval from the WHO (World Health Organisation).”


If he had his way, AFCON 2015 will be shifted to a later date.

“If I were CAF, I will suspend the tournament because it is difficult to contain. But if we qualified, I will play in the tournament,” he added.‎

Vincent Enyeama nominated for 2014 BBC Footballer of the Year award

Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has had a fantastic  season at his club side Lille and is one of Nigeria’s  decisive players, his nomination  for the BBC African Footballer of Year for 2014 however comes as no surprise.
The father of three joins 6-time title holder; Yaya Toure, Gabonese striker, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Algeria’s Yacine Brahimi and Gervinho of Ivory Coast’s on the list.
The winner according to BBC will be decided by fans of African football, who have until November 24 to vote for their choice online or through SMS. The winner will be announced on December 1.‎
