Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh has told his own side of the row involving him and goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama. In this interview with Toyin Ibitoye of Channels TV, the ex international said Enyeama did not only lie that he abused his mum but also assassinated his character.

Just when i thought somebody from somewhere will talk him into staying. Prolific shot-stopper, Vincent Enyeama is not mincing his words about quitting the Super Eagles team. Radio sports presenter, analyst and reporter, Oma Akatugba (pictured left in the second picture) who recently relocated to Belgium revealed on his instagram page that he, Mikel, Emenike and few other players tried persuading him to stay but the Lille goalie said he would not go back on his words.
The goalkeeper drove his Bentley car out of the Super Eagles camp in Belgium. Can imagine what is going on in the minds of other players, pain/sadness but life must go on. Oh! Oliseh. Let’s hope a miracle will happen soon.

Why I made Ahmed Musa captain -Sunday Oliseh
Men’s national team coach, Sunday Oliseh has lifted the lid on why he stripped goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama of his captaincy role and handed it over to Ahmed Musa. Speaking on Brilla radio, Oliseh said:

”I want a captain who is disciplined. A leader who can motivate other players. A player who comes to camp early. I want a young player not a retiring player as captain. And Ahmed Musa is that player. He is my captain. When you have a new government like our honourable president just came in, he’s picked his ministers. And you have your philosophy and you have your way of working.”

He continued, “As a coach I have looked at the team and I have looked at Nigeria going forward. We need a captain who will think of staying with Nigeria for several years to come, who is regularly in the front. And Ahmed Musa did a great job for us in Tanzania under very difficult circumstance. He is a very responsible player and he is the captain of the team. So he is the captain of the team, there is no question of a tussle.

Super Eagles’ most capped footballer, Vincent Enyeama has announced his retirement from international football. It is not unlikely that his row with the national team coach, Sunday Oliseh prompted his decision. The 32 year-old has been a mainstay for Nigeria since making his international debut in 2002 and captained the country to 2013 Africa Cup of Nations glory

The Lille skipper arrived a day after the Monday deadline after attending his mother’s funeral over the weekend in his home town. That apparently didn’t go down well with the coach who also handed the captaincy role to CSKA Moscow player, Ahmed Musa. Enyeama told football pundit, Colin Udoh that the ex international’s action took him by surprise.

“So I stood up to explain my position and ask for an explanation, but the coach asked me to sit down. I insisted on speaking because I felt that with the years of dedicated service I have given to the country I deserve at least the respect of giving my own side. The remains of Madam Lucy Phillips Enyeama was committed to mother earth yesterday October 3, 2015. The service took place at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Urua Inyang, Akwa Ibom, Uyo State. Present at the burial mass were the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Deputy Governor Mr. Moses Ekpo (MFR) and the Secretary to the State Government, Sir Etekamba Umoren.
Others include NFF president Amaju Pinnick, NFF Executive Committee member, Chief Felix Anyansi-Agwu, former Super Eagles’ skipper Joseph Yobo and the President-General of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Dr. Rafiu Oladipo, amongst others.

Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama has apologized for pulling out of this Saturday’s 2017 Nations Cup qualifier match. Recall that the Lille skipper opted out after receiving the shocking news of his mother’s demise.
A bereaved Enyeama tendered his apology via his Instagram page on Wednesday night.
“So sorry I won’t make it out there to wear this shirt. So sorry that I won’t be standing there singing the anthem of my sweet NIGERIA. #WEARENIGERIA. I wish that this darkness didn’t come in daylight. I wish that I could turn back the hand of time. I wish, I just wish that I could take away this pain. let the rain wash away this pain.”

Vincent Enyeama and wife celebrate 16th wedding anniversary
A decade and a half has gone by since Super Eagles skipper, Vincent Enyeama walked his lovely wife, Promise down the aisle. Never knew he’s been married for that long. The lovebirds who have three beautiful children together celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary today.
