UEFA changes yellow card rule.

UEFA has made a new rule regarding yellow cards. it will now be harder for erring players to be suspended for the Champions League and Europa League finals. The European football’s governing body has decided to wipe out players’ bookings after the quarter-finals of club competitions.
UEFA said in a statement, “Following a recommendation by the UEFA Club Competitions Committee – in order to implement in UEFA club competitions a rule which is already in force in the UEFA European Football Championship – the Emergency Panel decided that, as of this season, all yellow cards from the beginning of the group stage will expire on completion of the quarter-finals. Bookings will therefore not be carried forward to the semi-finals.”

Racial incident: UEFA orders partial closure of Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu stadium

The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body has ordered the closure of part of Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu stadium following racial incidents by the club’s fans during their UEFA Champions League semi-final first leg against FC Bayern München at the Santiago Bernabéu on 23 April.

Sectors 120 and 122 of the stadium will be closed for the title defender’s next UEFA competition home game.

“Real Madrid are obliged to display a banner with the wording ‘No to Racism’ in those sectors,” UEFA added.

NICKLAS BENDTNER TO FACE UEFA DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS FOR FLAUNTING SPONSORED UNDERPANTS

Like seriously I'm still surprised that a player can be reprimanded over this 'seemingly' little matter. Denmark forward Nicklas Bendtner will be charged by UEFA for flaunting a sponsored/branded underpant after hitting the net twice in Wednesday June 13's Group B match in Lviv against Portugal.

Unknown to him, the singular action was against the rules and UEFA is taking disciplinary actions against him. A statement released by European football's governing body reads,
"UEFA has today announced that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Denmark's Nicklas Bendtner for improper conduct (Law 4 of the Laws of the Game) at the UEFA EURO 2012 Group B match against Portugal in Lviv on Wednesday 13 June. The UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body will deal with this case on Monday."

Bendtner had no idea he had broken the rules.
"It is just a pair of lucky boxer shorts that I used in the first game as well and have used before the tournament. I didn't know I was breaking any rules but I am aware of that now." He vowed.

Inspite of what's on ground, Paddy Power, manufacturers of the branded boxer shorts congratulated Bendtner on his actions on the night of the game.

UEFA BANS ARSENE WENGER FOR IMPROPER CONDUCT

UEFA, the administrative body for football in Europe has banned Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger for his uncomplimentary remarks about referee Damir Skomina during Arsenal's Champions League game with AC Milan on 6th March 2012.

This will be the third time the French would be picking a ban. Asides that, the coach who has been suspended from carrying out his managerial duties for the next three European games will pay a fine of €40,000 (£33,000).

The match which ended 3-0 didn't favour the club as they were knocked out 4-3 on aggregate, Wenger couldn't hide his feelings either, "I was not happy with the referee tonight because I felt he gave many free-kicks in the middle of the park."

Speaking before the news was made public, the 63 year-old ex footballer said, "If I am suspended then it is not justified and I will appeal straight away. I believe that they have transformed UEFA competition referees to be untouchable icons, where you cannot even have a word.

"The only thing they understand after the game is the report. I believe that when you have 25 years consecutively in Europe you can still ask the referee that you can have some discussion with him. It is very difficult to understand."

Arsenal is expected to appeal the ban/fine within 3 days.

UEFA PRESIDENT LAUDS BARCELONA AND REAL MADRID

Former French football player and UEFA president Michel Platini has lauded the structures of spanish football teams, Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to him, the system allows supporters to have a greater say in the running of their club, "I love the management structure of Real Madrid and Barcelona because the members remain responsible for the club and their decisions, both preserve their identity and the popularity of football lies precisely in the fact that there are such strong ties with the fans." He concluded.

ROONEY WAS PROVOKED BY FAMILY PROBLEMS-MIODRAG

Montenegro player, Miodrag Dzudovic whom Manchester United Striker, Wayne Rooney kicked has asked UEFA to show leniency because Rooney had acted out of “desperation rather than anger”, and had been “provoked by problems his family had to face a short time before the game”.
UEFA’s hearing which took place at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon saw the committee accepting Rooney’s appeal against his 3-match international ban he received for his red card in october. His suspension has however been reduced to 2 games.
The England player will now miss England matches against France and Sweden.
