Nigeria through to Africa U23 Championship

The dream team earned qualification to the African U23 championship after defeating Congo 2-1 on aggregate. The Siasia-led team picked up a 2-1 away victory at home before holding Congo to a goalless draw today in Pointe Noire to secure qualification.
They now join the likes of Algeria, Egypt, South Africa, Tunisia, Zambia and hosts, Senegal who have all qualified.
The tournament will kick off in December with 8 participating teams and it would also serve as qualification for the 2016 Olympic games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

Samson Siasia appointed U-23 team coach

He wanted his job back, now he has a new role. Three years after he was sacked as Eagles coach for failing to qualify the country to the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, Samson Siasia has been appointed as Nigeria’s U23 team coach.

The Committee also appointed Mr. Samson Siasia as the new Head Coach of the U-23 Men’s Team. He will be assisted by Fatai Amoo, while the Technical and Development will recommend the other members of the crew,” said a communiqué signed by executive committee member Suleiman Yahaya-Kwande.
