You left your apology a bit too late – Ruggedman tells 9ice.

Nigerian rapper, Michael Stephens popularly called Ruggedman has reacted to a statement of apology written by his estranged friend, Abolore Adegbola Adigun, also known as 9ice saying Ruggedman never cheated on his ex wife Toni Payne as widely believed. The entrepreneur accepted his apology and added that it was quite belated.

He wrote:

“In 2010 9ice released a song that made a lot of people wrongfully drag me into a terrible situation. People misconstrued the song and it created a rumor. A terrible false rumor that was fueled by journalists and bloggers who were only after hits on their sites and did not care to investigate and confirm the rumor but chose to print and post it anyways not caring who got hurt in the process. I remember pleading my innocence and that of Toni Payne but social media people being who and how they are chose not to listen.

I remember calling 9ice on the phone CIA style to talk to him about it and he was clearly heard admitting the song was not about myself or Toni Payne, but social media people being who and how they are, chose not to listen. I remember asking 9ice to publicly clear the air on the terrible rumor but was shocked when my friend said he would not because he was busy and didn’t have time for such. Again nobody wondered why.

Fast forward 2016, six years later and I was surprised when I heard that 9ice has finally come out to say I never slept with his wife and the song was not about me and even apologized. You left it a bit too late, you had your chance to clear this matter 6 years ago when it really mattered but you didn’t, I do not know why or what made you keep quite all that while. Any way I accept your apology and thank God we are all alive.’’

‘Heaven just gained a beautiful angel’. (Tribute to Zara Gretti) | By: Toni Payne

Writer, publicist and the late Zara Gretti’s former manager, Toni Payne has written an heart-felt tribute to the late singer who passed on on March 28, 2014 after a long time battle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Zara was buried yesterday, April, 4, 2014 at the Ikoyi Cemetary. May her soul continue to find repose. (Amen)
‘Heaven just gained a beautiful angel’
As I look through the years, the life that you lived
I know you are smiling because through your music you live
No sickness could take that from you
No disability would dare
As we do our best to remember you as you were
The memories you gave, the love you shared
No more tears, that’s not what you would want
I take solace in knowing you are home
I cry no more because I accept
Heaven couldn’t wait for this beautiful angel
We celebrate your life, a vibrant one it was
A singer, a dancer, a free spirit,
Full of life, yes you were
I choose to remember you as you were
I know you would have wanted nothing less
And take solace in knowing and accepting
Heaven just gained a beautiful Angel
Vivacious, playful, cheerful and free
Those are some of the words that come to me
When I think of you and the times we shared
We would be here all day if we tried to compare
Words to a soul as unique as yours
How can I fully describe you with mere words?
The pain is over, uncertainty no more
Dancing in heaven, as free as can be
We that are left should take solace in knowing
Heaven just gained a beautiful Angel

RAVISHING ANGEL

To a woman

Whose love speaks aloud

Strong, bubbly

Virtues of no count

Ravishing angel

Accept my cheer

Brainy, talented

She’s an immense dear

It’s a special day

A special moment

For this lady

May goodness trail

More Exploits

Wings to her dreams

Eternal smile

Plants that pretty face

I could never wish you pain

Fulfilling years in delight

Hail Toni
