Sunday Oliseh in line to be Super Eagles' next coach?

There are strong indications that ex-international, Sunday Oliseh might emerge as the next coach of the Super Eagles following the sack of Stephen Keshi. President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, reportedly had a meeting with him in London on Tuesday.
Oliseh was an integral part of the Eagles’ squad that won the Africa cup of nations in 1994 and the Olympic gold in Atlanta’96. He holds a UEFA pro license and managed a Belgian third division club, Vervietois Fc between 2008-2009.

Angry Keshi slams abusive Nigerian fans

This has got to do with the Nigeria Vs Iran match which ended goalless draw few weeks ago. According to Africanfootball.com, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi is not really happy with the way some abusive Nigerian fans hurled insults at him and criticised his antics during the opening group game at the World Cup in Brazil.


“I am disappointed, totally disappointed by the personal attacks, but it’s their thing, no wahala. It’s a shame, just a shame that we keep doing the same thing and then they come back and they say they are sorry. Sorry for abusing my mum? Sorry for abusing my siblings? For what? That I am representing Nigeria?” He stated.
To be very candid, I understand Keshi’s point and there’s really no justification for the insults but really it was only natural for fans to react and express their opinion about the game. No one will give the team kudos when their performance is lacklustre.

WHO DESERVES TO WIN THE COACH OF THE YEAR AWARD? STEPHEN KESHI OR MANU GARBA? NIGERIAN SPORTS AWARD HOLDS TODAY!

Who deserves to win the Coach of the Year? Is it Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi who led Nigeria to win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in January helped and also helped the team qualify for the 2014 World Cup or Golden Eaglets coach, Manu Garba who inspired his team to win 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup?
The 2013 edition of the Nigerian Sports Award, (NSA) which is being put together to honour deserving Nigerian sports personalities will take place today 26th November, 2013 in Lagos. Also nominated for the prestigious award is President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Aminu Maigari.
Others include Solomon Ogba of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria and Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission Amaju Pinnick who are contending for the Sports Administrator of the year award. Prolific Tennis player, Aruna Quadri was also nominated for the Ball Sports Personality of the Year.
The Awards which has Nokia and Amstel Malta as its official sponsors will be attended by Director General of the National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye, the Minister of Sports, Bolaji Abdullahi, and a host of dignitaries.

MORE LARGESSE FOR SUPER EAGLES

The Super Eagles since their triumphant arrival into the country have not only been lavished with praises from fans, friends and Nigerians as well, millions of naira in cash and kind have been expended on them.

Before their grand reception party at the Aso Rock Villa where they rewarded with cash prizes and plots of land by President Goodluck Jonathan, business mogul, Mike Adenuga gave out a Range Rover Sport, Posh apartment in Lagos and $200,000 to Stephen Keshi, other players were also rewarded.

Recently, the Delta State Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan named the Asaba stadium after Super Eagles coach who hails from his state. In another reception held at the Asaba international

event center in Delta State, the ex-footballer was given N8m cash and a duplex. Daniel Amokachi, Sylavnus Okpalla and Ike Shorunmu got N4m each, Warri Wolves players; Sunday Mba, Chigozie Agbim, Azuibike Egweke and Brown Ideye got N5m each, others got N2.5m each.

A day ago, Governor Babatunde Fashola of Lagos State while commending the team for their hardwork and victory in the AFCON tournament also doled out cash prizes to them. Stephen Keshi, got the sum of N2.5 million, while his assistant, Daniel Amokachi got N2 million and captain of the team, Joseph Yobo, N1.5 million. Four other assistant coaches got N1.5 million each.

The 22 members of the team got the sum of N1million each and N500, 000 per goal for each of the 11 goals they scored during the tournament, while N15 million was donated to the backroom staff of the Super Eagles.

We hope and sincerely pray they win the World Cup.

EAGLES GET SHOCKING RULE FROM STEPHEN KESHI

Stephen Keshi is serious about this and Eagles have to stick to it. Addressing Super Eagles on tuesday February 7, 2012, Super Eagles coach, Stephen Kesi has placed a ban on European trials by the players.
The former Eagles captain said the trial issue has been affecting the building of a strong national team as players stroll in and out of camp to embark on trials in Europe and other parts of the world.
He however advised players who have the intention of going for trials in foreign clubs in the next 60 days to leave the camp so he can’t invite replacements.
“I’m distracted everytime players walk up to me and ask for permission to travel that has to stop now. Those who want to travel can come and I will pray for them, its no quarrel”
He stated further that he feels insulted each time players travel for trials and sometimes return without success, “If we train players here and they make the national team such players don’t need trials in Europe to be engaged by top clubs“.
Citing Ghanaian Legend, Abedi Pele who after unsuccessful trial attempts in france was trailed back to Ghana by another club who saw him play in a trial game, he said, “if you are good enough, clubs in Europe will come down here to sign you instead of you exposing yourself to health risks. European managers know my pedigree, if I tell them any player is good such player will be signed on.“

MIKEL COULD BE DROPPED FROM NATIONAL TEAM.

Taking cues from his gaffe during the Nigeria/Argentina international friendly in Dhakar which saw lionel Messi robbing him off the ball and passing to Higuain who scored and his recent performance during the Chelsea/Liverpool match, Chris Green, Chairman technical committe, Nigeria Football Federation has asked Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel to be mindful of his football errors or face being sent out of the national team.
Speaking further on his absence during the two friendlies against Botswana and Zambia, only to play for his club side four days later, Chris Green said that he wouldn’t interfere in the case, he would rather allow the Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi make decisions.

SANI KAITA WOOS KESHI FOR RETURN

The name Sani kaita, easily rings bell in the ears of football loving Nigerians, it would be recalled that the Ukraine-based midfielder got a red card against Nigeria and Greece match at the 2010 world cup in South Africa, and thus changed the entire game. The erstwhile Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia consequently removed him from the National team.
Speaking in a recent interview, Keita stated that he is worming his way into the team and has spoken to New Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi for a comeback.
"I can't wait to return to the Super Eagles to continue where I stopped. I've been playing week in, week out for my club for several months now and I know that based on current form, I merit a return to the national team." He concluded.Source: Thisday
