Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge stadium development plan is set for approval today.
The planning application for the proposed £600 million redevelopment of the stadium will be tabled before Hammersmith and Fulham Council on Wednesday.
If approved, Chelsea will move into a temporary place for the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Construction of the new 60,000-seater edifice will take three years. The Blues however hope to open the stadium in 2020 .
Jose Mourinho fan board removed from Stamford Bridge.
According to ESPN, a special board outside Stamford Bridge where fans could get their pictures taken as part of the squad has been removed by the club for reasons best known to them. First time/occasional/regular visitors at the Bridge usually pose next to this particular ‘Mourinho wall’ and have their friends take their pictures. An ESPN corespondent who visited the place confirmed that the board has been removed and shared Before and After pictures. This development is coming three weeks after the Special One was dismissed by the club.
CHELSEA COACH, ANDRE VILLAS-BOAS GETS THE BOOT
Andre Villas-Boas |
Less than a year after becoming a coach at the Stamford Bridge, Andre Villas-Boas has been sacked.
It is not unlikely that the decision to end the 34 year-old Portuguese’s job was as a result of Chelsea’s defeat against West Brom on saturday.
According to the club release, “Andre Villas-Boas has parted company with Chelsea Football Club today.
The board would like to record our gratitude for his work and express our disappointment that the relationship has ended so early.
Unfortunately the results and performances of the team have not been good enough and were showing no signs of improving at a key time in the season.
The club is still competing in the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup, as well as challenging for a top-four spot in the Premier League, and we aim to remain as competitive as possible on all fronts.
With that in mind we felt our only option was to make a change at this time. With immediate effect Roberto Di Matteo has been appointed first-team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.”
AVB joined the club in June 2011
but for real, is sacking this man the solution to chelsea’s woes?
