Heard about the first ever Sports University in Nigeria?

The first ever Sports University in Nigeria is located at Idumuje-Ugboko, Delta State. Established by Prince Ned Munir Nwoko; a philanthropist and politician to train professionals in sports, sport management and other disciplines.
The aim is to equip professional sportsmen and women with adequate training to excel in sports and earn additional qualifications that would enable them to face the challenges of life and contribute positively to national development.
Beyond the individual, the SPORTS UNIVERSITY has also been established to facilitate Nigeria’s rise to the enviable position as a leading sports nation. Their vision is “To produce International Standard Sportsmen and Women who would ultimately compete at the Olympics and other world forums with exceptional results.”
On what inspired him to establish the university, Prince Ned Munir Nwoko noted that, “The monumental failure of Nigeria as a country to achieve its potential in international sporting events is the reason for this university. It is expected that this university will prepare and propel our sportsmen and women to the desired heights and also provide an environment for our coaching experts to maximize their efforts with the right results.’’
The Inauguration of the university was held today and academic activities will resume soon.
