South Africa Football Association has flagged off a campaign to collect, melt illegal guns and build a statue in honour of the national team goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa who was killed in a robbery incident on October 26 at his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus, Johannesburg.
Danny Jordaan, the South African Football Association President hopes people with this illegal weapons would come out and surrender them.
He said in a statement, “We need to mop up illegal guns and destroy them. The campaign aims to save lives so we are appealing to society to hand in all illegal guns.”
