Meyiwa: South Africa Football Association flags off 'gun campaign'

South Africa Football Association has flagged off a campaign to collect, melt illegal guns and build a statue in honour of the national team goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa who was killed in a robbery incident on October 26 at his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus, Johannesburg.
Danny Jordaan, the South African Football Association President hopes people with this illegal weapons would come out and surrender them.
He said in a statement, “We need to mop up illegal guns and destroy them. The campaign aims to save lives so we are appealing to society to hand in all illegal guns.”

South Africa goalkeeper, Meyiwa laid to rest (Photos)

Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa, who was killed during a robbery attack at his girlfriend’s home a week ago has been laid to rest. Before his internment yesterday November 1, 2014 at the Heroes Acre Chesterfield Cemetary, thousands gathered at the Moses Mabhida stadium, Durban to pay their last respect to the father of three. Orlando Pirates team members also sang and danced next to his coffin. His father, Sam Meyiwa (pictured above) also waved to the crowd.

Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, Senzo Meyiwa shot dead

Senzo Meyiwa, a goalkeeper for South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates has died. He was shot dead yesterday 26th October 2014, 24 hours after he played a match for his club side. 
The 27 year-old was shot in the chest during a robbery incidence at his girlfriend’s house in Vosloorus, Johannesburg. No other person was hurt in the process. The Bucs goalie was declared dead on arrival at hospital. Meanwhile, the SA police have offered monetary reward to anyone who can offer any info that can lead to the arrest of his killers. He’s survived by a wife and three children.
