Robert Gordon University (RGU) Aberdeen has revoked the honorary degree it bestowed on American Presidential candidate, Donald Trump following his recent controversial remarks. The TV personality recently demanded for a ‘total and complete shutdown’ on Muslim immigration to America following a shooting last week which claimed the lives of 14 people. This didn’t only spark worldwide outrage, a petition to bar the Republican frontrunner from Britain was garnered more than 358,000 signatures.
A spokesman for RGU said his views on Islam are ‘wholly incompatible’ with their ethos and values.
“Mr Trump’s recent remarks have shown that he is no longer fit to be a business ambassador for Scotland,” a spokesman for the regional government said as he was dropped as a “GlobalScot” ambassador, a position he took up in 2006.” The statement added.
