Spanish club, Real Sociedad’s incredible gesture to a homeless man is hitting the headlines.
The club has offered a job to Ruben Vitoriano, a homeless man who slept in the doorway of the Basque club’s Anoeta Stadium with his dog Mundo for the last eight months
Ruben who has roamed the streets of San Sebastian for three years now has a roof over his head. He has also joined the Basque club’s ground maintenance team and has agreed an initial two-month contract.
He told Marca, “I thought they were such good people. After so much time, hope is lost.”
David Moyes sacked!
A year after penning an 18-month contract with Spanish club, Real Sociedad, former Manchester United boss, David Moyes has been shown the exit door. It is not unlikely that the club which currently sits at the 18th position on La Liga standings axed the Scot following it’s dismal performance in Friday night’s 2-0 defeat against Las Palmas.
The news was confirmed by the club in a statement today.
“Real Sociedad would like to thank David Moyes and his assistant, also departing Billy McKinlay for the professional conduct, commitment and dedication which they showed during their roles in the running of the first team. At the same time, we would like to wish them all the best in their future ventures, both professional and personal.”
Asier Illarramendi rejoins Real Sociedad from Real Madrid
Asier Illarramendi has left Real Madrid to complete his return to La Liga rivals and boyhood club Real Sociedad. Illarramendi, 25, signed for Los Blancos from Sociedad in 2013 but his future at the club under new coach Rafa Benitez has been the subject of conjecture.
The midfielder, who made 30 league appearances last season, has now sealed a transfer back to San Sebiastian after passing a medical and agreeing a six-year contract with the club. AS reports the fee is in the region of €17 million, plus add-ons, and Illarramendi will presented to the fans 19:00 local time.
Illarramendi said earlier on Wednesday: “Very happy. Of course, I wanted to return, I haven’t yet spoken to my teammates, later I will speak with them. Real [Sociedad] has always been my first option and I was really wanting to return home, of course.”
