Real Madrid top Forbes' most valuable teams list.

Spanish outfit, Real Madrid have for the third year running retained the top spot on Forbes’ list of the 50 most valuable sports teams in the world. Barcelona ($3.16 b) and Manchester United ($3.10) were also included in the top five. The world’s 50 most valuable teams are worth an average US$1.75 billion, up 31 per cent from 2014 according to Forbes.

El-Clasico date announced

The Spanish football federation (RFEF) have announced that El-Clasico will hold on 7/8 November and April 3. The first leg of the highly anticipated match will take place at the Santiago Bernabeu on November 7/8 while the reverse leg will take place at the Nou camp on April 3.
Before the Clasico, Barcelona will begin their season campaign against Athletic Bilbao while Real Madrid will travel to El-Molinon to trade tackle with newly promoted side, Sporting Gijon.

Xavi slams Madrid for Casillas's poor send-off

Spanish midfielder, Xavi Hernández has slammed Spanish club, Real Madrid for failing to give one of its long-serving players, Iker Casillas a deserving send-off before he switched to Porto FC. 

Unlike the ace goalkeeper, Xavi was treated to a grand farewell by his former club, Barcelona. The 35 year-old conveyed his thoughts in a letter which was published in the newspaper, Vanguardia. Excerpts below

“I met Iker in the U-17 World Cup in Egypt and we got on immediately. Whenever anyone asks me about him, the answer is always the same: “He’s a really great bloke. That’s why it really gets me what is happening. Over the past few years I have seen how he didn’t enjoy it as much as he used to. Sometimes I even saw him bitter and I think that all of us in this country have to stop and reflect on this. It cannot be that sportspeople in Spain can’t get older without people being disrespectful to them, looking for faults at times very nastily.”

“The same thing is happening with Rafa Nadal, the best Spanish sports person of all time. Now Casillas is going to Porto and I am sure that he will get a hero’s welcome. He is appreciated more abroad. Iker deserved to be treated in the same way that he treated everybody. For me, he is the most decisive goalkeeper in all history. What saves. Maybe his footwork wasn’t the best, but I have never seen a more intuitive guy between the sticks.”

“He made history with the national team in that famous penalty shoot-out against Italy. ‘Take it easy, Luis, we’ve got Iker, who is on fire’, I told Aragonés. What I’m most happy about is that we have been able to maintain our friendship despite our different team colours. The way he left Real Madird really upsets me. It saddens me. I wish you all the very best in your time at Porto, my friend.”

Sergio Ramos re-unites with Florentino Perez?

There are news that Sergio Ramos has mended things with club president, Florentino Perez and may stay at the club despite several links and speculation of his departure. The Spaniard was pictured hugging Perez after a meeting in which they reportedly settled their differences.
Sergio Ramos expressed his dissatisfaction in his contract fee and pushed for an increase – a move met with strong criticism from club officials and Spanish media. He has since been linked strongly to Manchester United and host of other clubs.

Rafael Benitez weeps as he's unveiled Real Madrid manager

Former Liverpool boss, Rafael Benitez fought back the tears as he was officially presented as the new manager of Real Madrid.
A visibly emotional Benitez who penned a 3-year contract with The Los Blancos said: “This is the hard part, having to speak but not really knowing what to say. Madrid is my home. It’s emotional to be back. I hope it goes well, that the team plays quality football and wins trophies.”

Rafael Benitez excited about Real Madrid job

Napoli coach Rafael Benitez is in Madrid to dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s as regards his contract with Real Madrid. Before hopping into a private jet to Madrid this morning, the former Liverpool boss was asked by reporters if he was excited about the new role.

“I’m excited and very happy. Real Madrid and I still have things to discuss” .‎ He replied. The former Chelsea manager will replace Carlo Ancelotti who was relieved of his job two weeks ago after a disappointing season.

Real Madrid issue official statement on Paul Pogba bid.

Spanish club, Real Madrid have labelled completely as false reports of Juventus star,Paul Pogba’s move to the club. There were reports by  Italian newspaper, La‎ Stampa that the Los Blancos had offered Pogba a five year deal worth €10m per year.‎ The issue was addressed in an official statement released by the club today. Read it below.

“Following the reports published in the Italian newspaper La‎ Stampa concerning an alleged offer from Real Madrid for the player Paul Pogba, the club wishes to state the following:

Real Madrid have had no contact either with Juventus or the player’s agent and, as a consequence, the reports published in this newspaper are completely false.”

Real Madrid boss, Ancelotti knows fate today

Real Madrid boss, Carlo Ancelotti’s chances of managing the club next season are 50-50. Although the Italian hasn’t confirmed his departure but he’s decided to take a year out to focus on his health.
His second spell at the Spanish club has been quite disappointing and there are reports that would be replaced by Adriano Galliani or Raphael Benitez.
The former Chelsea handler who knows fate today disclosed that if he is shown the exit door at the Bernabeu, he won’t be taking any managerial role from any club for now.
“I said it in the press conference and I repeat: I will stop for a year. Also because I have a very serious reason for stopping. I have to have an operation because of my cervical stenosis. For some time, it has been affecting my hands and if I lose any more time, it could pass into legs, so I have an appointment for surgery. And, frankly, I do not know how long I have to be physically stopped, in terms of the post-operative phase and the subsequent rehabilitation.

He continued,”It will be a pleasure to host Galliani for dinner, but I cannot change my programme. I will have the operation in Vancouver, Canada, where I have already got a house with my wife. I will rest, between Madrid and Canada. Because the two years at Real have been very tough, believe me.

“Nobody can imagine how much training Real takes out of you, in terms of physical and nervous energy. Then, I will return home for another event: in a month, my grandson will be born. That’s something that I cannot and do not want to miss.” He stated.

Cristiano Ronaldo wept bitterly in the dressing room after Real Madrid crashed out of the Champions League race on tuesday, Spanish paper, Deportes Cuatro reports.
He might be having a bad season but we can’t deny he’s been the major driving force behind the team. So being defeated at that stage of the game is understandably painful.
Cuatro learnt that efforts by his teammates Sergio Ramos and Iker Casillas to cheer him up proved abortive as the global sport star remained inconsolable. He reportedly stood up and walked out of the dressing room.

Real Madrid tops world's most valuable football clubs list.

Spanish giant, Real Madrid has for the third consecutive year topped Forbes list of 20 most ‎valuable football clubs in the world.
Valued at $3.26bn, the club boasts of revenue of $746m and this according to Forbes was enough to keep them top of the list.
Forbes took into account equity and net debt, operating income
and transfer net spend when calculating its league table‎.
The 20 most valuable football teams in the world are worth an average of $1.16bn, 11% more than last year and 84% higher than five years ago.‎ Barcelona is in second spot, valued at $3.2bn, while Manchester United is third on $3.1bn.
