Real Madrid reveal details of the Santiago Bernabéu of the future.

Spanish giants, Real Madrid  have revealed the details of their new stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu. The futuristic facelift is expected to cost an estimated $600 million.

The Santiago Bernabeu was first completed in 1942 and last upgraded in 1982, the external facade of the stadium will be made up of strips of steel, the roof will have a retractable feature that will allow matches to be played under any weather conditions. Restaurant and entertainment areas will be featured. The rebuild of the stadium is expected to end right before the start of the 2022-2023 season.

Construction work was supposed to start in April but has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown in Spain. Club president, Florentino Perez said, “the new stadium will be the best stadium in the world”.

 

Julen Lopetegui will become Real Madrid manager after the #WorldCup

Spain’s national team coach, Julen Lopetegui has been named as the new boss of Real Madrid. He’ll join on 3-year deal after coaching Spain at the 2018 World Cup. In 20 matches for the Spanish national team, he has recorded 14 wins, 6 draws, 0 defeats, scored 61 Goals scored, conceded 13 Goals  and had 11 Clean sheets.

Madrid beat Man United to win UEFA Super Cup

Reigning European champions, Real Madrid defeated Manchester United to win the UEFA Super Cup in the Macedonian capital Skopje today. The contest which is held by winners of the  Champions League and Europa League ended 2-1. Real Madrid’s Casemiro and Isco as well as Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku  all got on the score sheets.
Zinedine Zidane has been in charge of Real Madrid for 19 months and has already won 6 trophies. He becomes the first person to win the UEFA Super Cup +2 times as a player and +2 times as a manager
 

Gareth Bale out with a calf injury for three weeks.

Real Madrid No 11, Gareth Bale is expected to be out for three weeks after being diagnosed with a “grade 2 injury in his left calf.”  The Welsh footballer who was included in the starting lineup against arch-rivals Barcelona on Sunday struggled on the pitch before he was being substituted in the first half.  The Blancos said his recovery will continue to be assessed.
He will miss the Champions League semi-finals.

Real Madrid sign the largest advertising deal in Spanish history

Real Madrid have signed a two-year deal with telecommunication giants, Telefonica. The advertising deal worth €15 million is believed to be the largest in Spanish history. as their official digital sponsor. The Spanish telecommunications provider has  with the Santiago Bernabeu outfit which will commence now and will last until the end of next season. As per the official statement by Los Blancos, Telefonica are their connecting partner.
Speaking in a press conference attended by club president Florentino Perez along with Telefonica president Jose Alvarez Pallete and members of the first team squad of the football and basketball teams, Perez said: “Telefónica and Real Madrid have sealed an important deal today that is founded on faith and loyalty. Telefónica, one of the most prestigious companies worldwide, will be a great ally and technological partner. Together we will be stronger as we conquer the future. This deal looks to strengthen our ambitions for today and tomorrow.”

As part of the deal, Telefonica will be granted access to the image rights of the players and the club while the telecommunications giants will install Wi-Fi across the Santiago Bernabeu apart from developing an app for Real Madrid fans.

Real Madrid to open their first soccer school in England.

Top Spanish club, Real Madrid have disclosed their plans to open their first soccer school in the British Isles. This project is a part of a partnership with a school in Croydon, South London.
The Real Madrid Foundation said in a statement, ‘The aim of the project is to support children and young people by offering them activities to develop their skills, both in sports and relational and social integration.”  The school will be targeted at economically and socially disadvantaged youths between the ages of eight and 11

The project is a partnership between the Foundation, The Cedars and Football for Unity, a non-profit pro-football organisation, as well as the Kinetic Foundation, a Croydon sports charity. The school will be opened by Club legend, Emilio Butragueno on March 22.

Real Madrid have made a slight change to their logo

Spanish club, Real Madrid have made a slight change to their logo and it is almost unnoticeable.
The cross at the top of their crest for shirts has been removed from merchandise that are to be sold in the Middle East. They believe the movie will boost revenues (shirt sales)in the Muslim-dominant region.
“We need to be mindful around certain areas in the Gulf. There is a certain sensitivity towards products which have a cross.” Khaled al-Mheiri, the vice-president of Marka, the company that holds the right to distribute Real’s jersey in Middle East explained.

Manchester United tops richest clubs in the world list.

Manchester United have been named world’s richest club according to the money list compiled by Deloitte Football Money League. The English club displaced Real Madrid, who had topped the list for 11 consecutive seasons. Manchester United has also become the first football team to earn more than £500 million in a season.
Their total revenue has been put at £515, almost £50 million more than Barcelona and Real Madrid, thanks to their whooping kit deal and sponsorship with Adidas and Chevrolet as well as the Premier League TV earnings.

Real Madrid reach the Club World Cup final.

 
Real Madrid beat Club America in the Club World Cup  on Thursday to qualify for the Club World Cup final. The European Champions have extended their unbeaten streak to 36 matches. The Zinedine-led men have now scored 100 goals, recorded 27 wins and 9 draws, won 2 trophies and have not lost a game since April. Goals from Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the victory for the Los Blancos.

Gareth Bale named 2016 Wales Player Of The Year

 
Real Madrid star, Gareth Bale has for the sixth time in 7 years emerged Wales´ Player Of The Year. The Welsh star who has been in a scintillating form in the year received the honour at a ceremony at the Football Association of Wales (FAW) awards on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old who had an impressive outing at the Euro 2016 semi-finals is also on course to become the country’s all-time leading goalscorer.
