6 things you didn't know about the newly appointed NNPC GMD

President Muhammadu Buhari today appointed Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu as the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He took over from Dr. Joseph Thlama Dawha. Below are some of the facts you should know about the NNPC helmsman

1) He was born 58 years ago and he hails from Onicha Ugbo, in Aniocha North local government area of Delta State. He holds the titles of Odogwu and Omeudo of Onicha Ugbo‎
2) He is married to two women, Elizabeth and Mariam. The first wife, Elizabeth has three children – Nkem, Emeka and Uche.

3) He is a first class graduate of Law, University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the Nigerian Law School. He also has Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Law from the Harvard Law School.
4) He kickstarted his working career with the Nigerian/American Merchant Bank before moving on to Texaco Nigeria Limited where he remained for about eight years before joining ExxonMobil. 
5) He is an author of three legal books as well as the publisher of the popular Hints and Chanelle magazines, Complete Fashion Magazine as well as YES! International.
6) Veteran writers like Toni Kan, Reuben Abati, Kayode Ajala, etc wrote for his papers.

President Buhari Dissolves NNPC Board

President Muhammadu Buhari has dissolved the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) board with immediate effect.
The directive to that effect was conveyed in a letter signed today by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Barr. Danladi Kifasi.
Buhari in a statement signed by Haruna Imrana, Director of Communications for the Head of Service of the Federation expressed gratitude to members of the board for their services to the country.

Ebola Virus: NNPC shuts down Victoria Island clinic

The Victoria Island, Lagos clinic of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has been shut down after a suspected case of Ebola virus. Below is a statement by Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division.
 
“The management of the NNPC has announced the indefinite shutdown of its clinic in the Muri Okunola area of Victoria Island, Lagos, following a suspected case of Ebola virus on admission at the clinic.
It was discovered that the patient visited the First Consultant Medical Centre during the period the first Ebola case was reported at that clinic.
 
“In the meantime, all contacts with this case are being traced and adequate precautionary measures instituted to contain the possible spread of the disease. The medical team has assured that the patient is in stable condition.”
