Ibadan Comes Alive at Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5 Auditions 

It was an atmosphere of excitement over the weekend at the Kakanfo Inn & Conference Centre, Ibadan, as hundreds of Nigerian youths auditioned for a spot in the on-going Etisalat-Sponsored Nigerian Idol Season 5.
The auditions train which has made stops in Abuja, Benin and Port-Harcourt, had an overflow of anxious and expectant youths in Ibadan all ready to meet with the judging trio of Yinka Davies, Darey Art-Alade and Dede Mabiaku.
According to Manager, Sponsorships Etisalat Nigeria, Orah Egwu, the massive turn-out at the Kankanfo centre, attests to the widely held notion in the music industry that the industry is set for a boom. 
“I must confess that Ibadan City didn’t disappoint the Nigerian Idol team, despite the fact that this is our first time of coming to audition in the city since the beginning of the show in 2010. I can see that this year, there will be a challenge as to who leaves or stays on the show, because we have seen young great talents coming out to participate in this season’s audition.” Orah said.

One of the participants who got a golden ticket from the judges, Somtochukwu Obinna, a graduate of Business Administration from the Oduduwa University, said “I am happy at this opportunity and I am ready to take it as an opportunity to achieve my dream of becoming the next music superstar in African.”
The last leg of the auditions is scheduled to take place at the Dream Studio, Omole Phase 1, Lagos, from 7th – 9th February, 2015.

Nigerian Idol contestant gets flight ticket from judges.

In a rare show of appreciation for exceptional talent, the three celebrity judges on the Nigerian Idol season five, Dare ‘Art’ Alade, Yinka Davies and Dede Mabiaku, demonstrated their commitment to helping budding music talents realise their dreams when they offered to pay for the flight ticket of a contestant at the Abuja Auditions held at the weekend.

24 years-old Ame Igiri had hoped for an opportunity to showcase what talent she is after failing to scale the first screening hurdle at the Port Harcourt auditions a week earlier. 
Thankfully, a female friend saw her determination and undertook to sponsor her trip by road from Enugu where she has been residing since moving from Calabar, Cross River four years ago. 

“I was not expecting that,” began an elated Ame. “During my audition, I flopped at some point, but I want to believe my finishing did the magic. I was highly favoured. God just did it for me because it came as a surprise.”

Ame was also the first contestant at the Abuja auditions to be awarded a Golden Ticket by the judges, thus making her one of the top 100 contestants for the top 12 slots. The Golden Ticket is usually awarded to any exceptional talent identified by the judges in a unanimous decision.

Nigerian Idol is in its fifth season after a successful debut in 2010 won by Yeka Onka. In the following years which saw the emergence of Mercy Chinwo, Moses Adigwe and Zebili Evelyn (Evelle), it has grown in popularity and followership on the basis of the unique platforms it offers to young Nigerians with exceptional music talent. 
It is the only music TV reality show in Nigeria with a global appeal that currently cuts across 46 countries.
Nigerian Idol focuses on discovering Nigerian youths with talent in music and giving them a unique platform to take shots at stardom. 
The eventual winner goes home with N7.5 million cash reward, a brand new car, a recording deal worth N7.5 million and some high-end devices. Auditions are expected to continue in Ibadan at Kakanfo Inn, Ring Road in the weekend of January 31 and February 1. Lagos will host the last leg a week after at the Dream Studios, Omole 1. It would be recalled that same have been concluded in Benin and Port Harcourt.

Olamide, Dammy Krane, Run Town, others Show Support for Nigerian Idol 5 Launch

Rave of the moment music stars, Olamide, Dammy Krane Run Town were among the cream of top celebrities  that attended the media launch of the season five of leading TV reality music show, Nigerian Idol.

The official unveiling of the annual reality show was held last week at Mela Rossa in Ikoyi, Lagos in a ceremony laced with bespoke exciting moments of fun, entertainment and networking.
Beside Olamide and Run Town, other notable artistes who graced the occasion include Cynthia Morgan, Kiss Daniel, YQ and P.R.E.
The unveiling marked an official commencement of season five of the show which auditions are on-going across five Nigerian cities namely Benin, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Ibadan and Lagos.

Meanwhile, Nigerian Idol franchise owner, Optima Media Group (OMG) has enjoined young Nigerians with promising career in music to take advantage of the Nigerian Idol platform to showcase themselves on a global stage while creating a career path for themselves.

The Executive Director of OMG, Ugochi Pedro, made the call in her opening remarks at the media launch. She also noted that the reality show has established its mark as a leading talent hunt platform that is providing needed opportunities for budding music stars to be discovered and nurtured for stardom.

The media launch featured numerous fun-filled activities such as a mini-Press Idol Competition and announcement of the judges for the season, but the closing performance by Nigerian Idol Season 4 Winner, Evelle Zibili was the climax of the night. 
With her dramatic performance of her latest single, ‘I’m Naughty’ and her soulful rendition of other hit songs, Evelle held the guests spell-bound with her tremendous running notes and energetic stage presence.

‎All is set for the nationwide search for the best music talents as the 5th edition of Nigerian Idol kicks off.

NIGERIAN IDOL SEASON 2: IT TAKES MERCY

After what seemed like a lifetime battle between Joe Anthony Ekpo (Blu Joe) and Chinwo Nnenda Mercy; the finalists of the Nigerian Idol competition; through countless votes of fans, ardent viewers across the country or beyond Mercy has been adjudged the winner of the second edition of the Nigerian Idols competition.
By virtue of her victory, the Rivers State indigene will walk home with $100, 000 as well as other befitting packages.

The show which was aired on TV stations for over 2months with over 20 contestants on board came to an end today April 7, 2012 after the duo's mind-blowing performances.
Over the weeks, both have held the audience as well as the judges spellbound with their impeccable voices and spectacular showmanship.

Mercy has thus joined the exclusive club of Idol alumni like Jordin Sparks, Ruben Stoddard, Timi Dakolo and most recently Yeka Onka.
