AFCON 2016 Q: Leave your weapons at home – NFF tells fans

The Nigeria Football Federation has appealed to fans coming to the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Friday to watch the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and  Pharaohs of Egypt not to bring any weapon with them. The appeal was made by NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi recently in Abuja.

“We are specially appealing to our football fans not to come with any item that might be seen as a weapon, because security will be very tight on the day. We also appeal passionately to the fans to co-operate fully with the security agents to make for hitch –free entry into the venue.
“Similarly, we are appealing to the fans to come to the stadium wearing green and white colours. We want the venue proudly adorned in our national colours.”
The match will hold by 5pm, and another clash will take place in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 29.

Oliseh’s Appointment Is NFF’s Worst Fraud – Godwin Izilein

Ex Golden Eaglets coach, Godwin Izilein has described the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as Super Eagles coach as the worst fraud ever committed by the the NFF under the leadership of Amaju Pinnick. Oliseh was appointed as a replacement for Stephen Keshi who was fired July 2015.
“The worst fraud that the NFF under Pinnick has ever committed on Nigerians is the appointment of Sunday Oliseh as the Super Eagles coach. Nobody was carried along, NFF president only met with him at a bar in London and announced to Nigerians, Oliseh will be the Guardiola of Africa. This is a man that has never coached any known club in his life. So, what was the yardstick for measuring his competence physically and mentally?” He asserted.
Izilein continued, “Amodu Shaibu was appointed for Eagles, NFF owed him, Christian Chukwu was there, NFF owed him, Stephen Keshi was there, the same thing happened, Austin Eguavoen others too, it was same story. What made Oliseh special that he got all the upfront payment? Such treatment is suspicious and nothing more than fraud, bias and wasteful spending.”
Oliseh also denied reports that he was paid upfront by the NFF after his unveiling in July 2015.
“When it comes to money, I am disappointed because based on what I’m being owed I should have stopped working, my assistants should also stop working. They make people think I was paid in advance, which is not so and am still waiting to be paid. The only thing is that I just decided not to go public with it.”

Sunday Oliseh withdraws lawsuit against NFF.

Former Nigeria national team handler, Sunday Oliseh has withdrawn a law suit against the Nigeria Football Federation  saying it is in the interest of the country. He made the announcement in a recent video posted on youtube. The former Nigerian captain has also insisted that no payment was made into his account

“I have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the law suit against the NFF. After speaking with well-meaning Nigerians, who I respect a lot, I also believe it is useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians and misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality.

“Certain vested interest in the NFF put their own interests first before that of Nigeria. My position of putting Nigeria first was a hindrance to certain vested interests in the NFF. If you put Nigeria first, you will always have problems with the NFF. This also explains why the benefits of players and wages and coaches are always placed secondary, while other things like team building trips (for FA chairmen) will always be catered to first.”
He also accused the organisation of imposing players on him. 
“I asked technical committee for information to help us against Egypt since July 2015, but I got no such information. Instead what they found more important to them was who will play for Nigeria, who is invited, who will play and I refused because they are not coaches.” He added.

Hello my name is Sunday Oliseh and have instructed my lawyers to withdraw the law suit against the Nigeria Football Federation after speaking with well meaning Nigerians whom I respect a lot.
I also believe that it’s useless joining issues with people who are bent on deceiving Nigerians,misleading Nigerians and diverting attention from the reality and the reality is that I decided to resign on the 25th of February because certain vested interest in the NFF put their own interest first before the interest of our country.

But I also believe that Nigerians deserve to know the truth, I feel that it is important to know that my position as regards Nigeria coming first was a hindrance to the personal interest of certain vested interest in the NFF and for that reason anybody who is gonna come in and be in my position as chief coach and who put Nigeria first will always have problems that is for sure.
Now this also explains why importance of very necessary expenditure that are important for the progression of our country like wages of players,benefit of players, the coaches are always placed secondary whereas other expenditures that have very little bearing to the progression of our country will always be cater to first.
For example you know team building a trimester we don’t really need that for our national team to progress.
I also feel in order to no let Nigerians get the true picture they are just bent on tarnishing my image that is why they have come up with stories like they paid me then I left , I have attached underneath here since the federal government hearing is not gonna hold today, I have attached underneath here statements of my account of the Zenith Bank the bank they NFF dealt with me the few occasion I have been paid.
I have attached it underneath here and you can see from the month of February that no payment that was made from the NFF to me uptil the time I resigned on the 25th and even wayward after that on the 29th that the month ended you can see that.
I also feel that it is right you know that I asked the technical committee for information, for materials to help us as regards to Egypt and I asked them way back as July 2015 as at the time I resigned on the 25th of February 2016 there was no information for us even though I demanded them on several occasions by emails also so there’s proof of it so they dare not deny it but what I feel they were more important about or what they find more important to them was trying to influence who plays for Nigeria, who get invited, who will play and obviously I refused because they are not coaches.
I also feel that it is unfair but that notwithstanding to treat players the way they did the way the players are being treated because it influences how the players perform and how they react so for that reason I have attach here also, please find attached also the proof, the invoice of the food that they are saying I didn’t buy in South Africa I have attached it here for you to see and that shows you that where in the world does the national team coach of the first team buy food for the team we are the richest Africa Nation.
So that alone I leave you to judge yourself now since I did not want to be part of this of putting Nigeria second and personal interest first there was no way this could continue and I felt it was time to let be that was why I resigned bye bye, thank you bye.
On the 16th of February I wrote a demand letter to the Nigeria Football Federation and I gave them an ultimatum for the 25th to settle issues dating way back as to July 2015 and almost by midnight when that ultimatum was not met I resigned, no phone call was made no email was made to try to address this demand later and it was very clear and when I resigned, I resigned by email and I resigned also by postmail and even afterwards the president and the Vice President called me and we spoke about this almost till 2am and they tried to convince me not to do what have done but the decision has been taken and before even that I contacted the minister with due respect to Nigeria and to him before I even resigned I called him to tell him as the father of Nigeria sports, so I don’t really think you need too much convincing because you’ve always known that our federation what they are like that but then it was a pleasure to have serve Nigerians, I do love you Nigerians, thank you once again

We are ready to meet Oliseh in court – NFF

The conflict between former Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh and the country’s governing body, the Nigeria Football Federation has taken another dimension with the latter vowing to meet the ex footballer in coach. 

Prior to this development, Oliseh had threatened to sue the NFF over claims that he has received backlog of salaries.  Oliseh who stepped down from his post as National team handler last week wrote on his website that no payment was made into his account. 
“I wrote an official demand letter to the Nigeria football federation through the General Secretary requesting payment of salaries and bonuses that were already long due and pending. In my said demand letter I listed 11 unpaid heads and articles. These 11 articles included demand for all sums dating back to July 2015. I therein also specified that I was willing to wait only up to the 25th February, 2016 before seeking means to get relief.


“Owed wages and accommodation were just 2 of these eleven articles.

“My letter was sent by email and by registered courier, both went unacknowledged nor honoured.

“This type of silence had become the new trend and my said demand letter was ignored just as my other e mails in the past weeks seeking support to prepare for the Egypt game.

“Our national team was at the point requiring that all energies and efforts should be directed at the oncoming qualifiers against Egypt and not at my employers initiating distractions for myself, the coaching crew and the players.

“Typical of these distractions, and without notice to me and in breach of our working agreement, the NFF rather chose the path of holding sessions on dismissing my assistant TIJANI BABANGIDA. They never gave reason(s) for the sack of Babangida.

“I had thought, hoped and counted on the NFF giving the magnitude of the Egypt game to have directed robust and committed efforts towards the said game, for example initiating its technical committee in procuring technical details that we had requested for since July 2015 on Egypt.

“Again some luxuries could have been shelved by the NFF to accommodate the outstanding bonuses for the players of the earlier qualifiers as the owed bonuses had become an issue with the players.

“As I have often been treated, along with my coaching crew and players it is pertinent to note that days after my resignation and contrary to The NFF official press release and numerous interviews and misrepresentations and outright falsehood, my bank has confirmed that no payments whatsoever as alleged by the NFF has been made to me. (as at as this afternoon of the 29thof February 2016).

“I dare say that the NFF I know would have made public, evidence of the said payment. I leave to the imagination of the public what conducts of this nature would do to our players just before vital games as often was the case.

“It is not in doubt neither did the NFF deny that my hallmark was my insistence on true professionalism, merit and an unflinching patriotic zeal to see the Nigerian national team to a higher level and my tenure brought progress to our dear national team.

“It is obvious that the NFF is at a loss as regards what to say, as they have never had a Coach ask them to keep their job as they often frustrate and use people (coaches) for scapegoats for their own short comings.

“My grandfather thought us to not seek to be loved by everyone(as it was not only impossible but a sign of weakness) but seek to be respected by most for honesty,hard work and a strong work ethic.

“As stated in my resignation indicating my recourse to the termination clause as contained in our working agreement. I resigned due to numerous Contractual violations, lack of Support, Unpaid wages, Benefits to my players, Assistant Coaches and myself.
Reacting to Oliseh’s statement, NFF’s head of communication department, Ademola Olajire said the organisation paid on February 23 to the coach through a Sterling Bank account and added that the NFF is not moved by his threats as they have proof of payments. 

“The NFF is not bothered by such threats. He can go to court. Oliseh is not the only one who has lawyers. The NFF has a legal department and it is ready.” Olajire said.

Oliseh is not the kind of person we thought he was – NFF

Spokesperson of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ademola Olajire has described the resignation of the Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh as  ‘good riddance to bad rubbish’. 
Speaking in an interview with the Nigeria Television Authority in Abuja, Olajire said “He is not the kind of person we though he was. He went on YouTube to abuse Nigerians. The Minister pleaded with the federation to allow him to remain in place for our next two matches. As you can see, he did not even wait for those matches.”
He also stated that contrary to reports that he tendered a resignation letter  to the governing body, he said the NFF learnt about the latest development in the media. 
On NFF’s next line of action,  Olajire added that “I cannot tell you what exactly they will do, but I can tell you that we will empanel a new set of technical hands for the team. And whatever Oliseh has mishandled in his few months in charge, they will have to right.”

Eagles assistant coach begs NFF for a month’s salary

Super Eagles assistant coach, Jean Francois Lusciuto has reportedly pleaded with the Nigeria Football Federation to be paid at least a part (a month’s salary) of what it owes him in salaries for his treatment in Belgium. The Belgian, who had a surgery for a stomach disorder in South Africa last month was left stranded in Lagos when the Eagles returned from the 2016 CHAN in Rwanda and had to return to his family in Togo is being owed five months’ pay, which is about  N10m at N2m /month.

A source hinted Africanfootball.com.“The ‘whiteman’ is really down — his stomach problem, which needed surgery in South Africa, has persisted and he now wants to fly to Belgium for better treatment. He has said he only needs his salary for a month to do that and he has written several mails to the NFF, but sadly he has not received any reply.”

Sunday Oliseh reportedly in fresh dispute with NFF

According to sources, Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh is reportedly in another altercation with the NFF over the latter’s decision to sack Tijani Babangida yesterday. The ex international’s appointment as Technical Assistant to the Super Eagles was terminated yesterday following a recommendation by the technical and development committee.

“The immediate disengagement of Mr. Tijjani Babangida as Personal Assistant to Super Eagles’ Coach, Sunday Oliseh, as recommended by the technical and development committee, was unanimously approved and General Secretary was therefore mandated to follow the due process in effecting his disengagement.” the NFF communiqué read in part.
Oliseh reportedly condemned the decision claiming Babangida’s contract is tied to his, and Babangida can only be fired if he, Sunday Oliseh is sacked.

Oliseh rant: Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Garba Lawal, others quit NFF Technical Committee.

Members of the NFF Technical Committee; made up of Christian Chukwu, Paul Bassey, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju and Garba Lawal have tendered their resignation following the NFF President, Amaju Pinnick’s poor handling of Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh’s embarrassing rant issue.
“The Committee recommended for his outright dismissal after they agreed that he had violated his contract”, a source disclosed.
According to reports, they all had suggested that the ex Nigeria international be fired for breaching some contractual terms but the Sports Minister, Solomon Dalung pleaded with his employers to give him a second chance.

“It is true that they are not keen to work again but I am prevailing on them to think twice because of their love and passion for the game and patriotism for the country. They cannot be treated with levity. They are heavyweights on their own and they are not paid a dime for their services.” Chairman of the Technical Committee Barrister Chris Green said.
A member of the committee also chipped in. “If they fail to take punitive action on him, he’ll mess them up. The problem is with Amaju because he wants to please everybody. They gave him the job on sentiment and that is the result. As for me, I can’t stay to watch him insult the Technical Committee. We all played for this country and deserve respect”, he stated.

Sunday Oliseh to be fined over youtube outburst

According to BBC, Super Eagles handler, Sunday Oliseh will pay for his infamous 8-minute youtube outburst over the weekend. The ex international had slammed and labelled his critics insane in a video posted on his website for calling for his sack after the home based Eagles’ lacklustre outing at the Rwanda 2016 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN blaming him for Nigeria’s CHAN 2016 exit.
The 41 year-old later apologised and blamed his rant on ‘editing error”.
“How dare I insult 170 million people who I love and have shown me so much love? Please forgive the error of editing! God bless you all’
“ Please when I spoke of critics, I did not mean the general public of Nigeria! I would never dare refer to my beloved country men as insane!’” He tweeted.
Nigeria’s sports minister Solomon Dalung and NFF boss Amaju Pinnick reportedly held a meeting in Abuja on the issue and concluded that he should be fined US$30,000.

CHAN 2016 exit: NFF, Oliseh apologise to Nigerians

Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh as well as Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick have apologised to Nigerians over the Super Eagles’ exit from the African Nations Championship. 
Nigeria lost  1-0 to Guinea in yesterday’s last group C match and subsequently crashed out of the tournament. They garnered four points from their two previous matches and only needed a draw against Guinea to advance to the quarter-final.
“We apologise to Nigerians for this loss, we never planned to exit the tournament this early. The boys gave their best,” Oliseh said after the game. 
Pinnick added, “We apologise to Nigerians for the poor outing of the Super Eagles in Rwanda, but we toe the line of CAF which states that CHAN is a developmental and preparatory competition. Of course, as Nigerians, we love to win always, and we feel bad when we don’t.

“I want us to take the positives from this tournament. A player like Chisom Chikatara broke onto the global platform and players like Usman Mohammed,  Chima Akas, Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Austin Oboroakpo and Ifeanyi Mathew confirmed their class.

“For me, it is disappointing that we did not progress. But the NFF will now focus on the 2017 AFCON qualifiers, and start preparations early for the remaining rounds.”
