Half of a Yellow Sun movie finally gets greenlight

Good news to movie enthusiasts especially those who have been anticipating the release of the screen adaptation of Chimamanda Adichie’s award-winning book, Half of a Yellow sun. The movie has finally gotten a greenlight by the National Film & Video Censors Board (NFVCB) after months of delay. The Biyi-Bandele directed movie which was classified “18” has been approved for cinema release.

As part of it’s plans to fight piracy and totally phase out films that promote moral decadence in youths, The National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB); an agency set up to regulate the film industry, censor and classify film and video works in Nigeria have confiscated pirated and uncensored pornographic films believed to be worth N2.5m at different locations in Abuja.

According to a statement issued by the the acting Head, Corporate Affairs of the NFVSC board, Mr Caesar Kagho, the illegal films were confiscated during a raid at different home video retail outlets in Banex, Sheriff Plaza, Wuse II, Dutse Alhaji FCT and even from individuals who failed to comply with the NFVCB ‘s New Distribution and Exhibition Framework.
