Political Prostitutes: Rapper, MI lashes out at Etcetera

Rapper, Jude ‘MI’ Abaga has expressed his disappointment over the points singer turned writer, Etcetera raised in his latest article published in PUNCH newspaper today.
Recall that the latter labelled celebrities frolicking with politicians and featuring in election campaigns political prostitutes.
The ‘Chairman’ crooner vented his anger on micro-blogging site, twitter in a series of tweets. Read below.
Mr Incredible wrote, “Lol @ etcetera. I remember a time when etcetera and I were hustling the music business together. Doing what we had to to come up.

Hoping that one day we would be in a position for political candidates to seek out endorsment. I’m sorry you aren’t here with us.

The primary thing an entertainer brings to any platform is eyeballs. Look at views with a star and views without. #yoursmarterthanthis

The only reason you write your articles is because that’s your hustle #igetitigetit #hopesayyoudemakemoney #yoursmarterthanthis

If you had a large fan base.. Your lack of class and an ethical compass as a writer shows you would probably support Hitler 4 d right sum

You should be ashamed at yourself. That you would so classlesly criticize anything that puts money in your colleagues hands

You should be ashamed that in the last few years you have done more to pull our industry down then help it grow.‎

And here is my opinion.. Since you freely give yours out. Your album is quite possibly the worst album released by a Naija artist ever!”‎

The Truth about MI Abaga | Episode 8

They call him MI’er just because he’s getting high’er and spitting fi’re. If you’ve never seen an episode of “The Truth” with Olisa Adibua, this is one interview you don’t want to miss. And it’s with no other person than Mr. Jude “MI” Abaga aka Mr. Incredible. Arguably one of Africa’s most prolific MCs with hit tracks and performances that helped redefine African music as we know it and pioneered a new dawn of Afro hip-hop extending its influence beyond just the shores of Nigeria to the entire world, we caught up with the “Chairman” himself to find out the truth about everything.

Just to mention a few, we wanted to know who MI Abaga is dating; his candid opinion about the issues between Jesse Jagz, Brymo and his label, Chocolate City; his thoughts around the rap game – who is the greatest rapper in Nigeria?; how it all began for him as an artist and the challenges of being not just an artist but also a music executive. In true fashion MI also drops some bars off his upcoming “Chairman” album – a little something for the fans.

Let us know what you think about MI Abaga by leaving a comment below

Oh No! MI can't be serious about quitting music.

Someone tell me his account has been hacked or something. How can MI quit music? He’s one of the best and talented rappers in Nigeria. Jude Abaga created his own space and blew our minds with his unique music. And just last year he was named Nigeria’s most financially successful rapper. He posted that on his instagram page and right now I’m still hoping it is not true. What could have happened?

MI shares throw-back pictures of him and Jesse Jagz

When men were still boys! Rapper, Jude ‘M.I’ Abaga shared these throwback pictures of him and his brother Jesse Jagz on Jesse’s birthday.

“From this partnership labels have been built.. Music has been sold.. Careers have been made.. Awards have been won!!! @jessejagz my brother the greatest!!!” he wrote

Photos: D'banj, Tiwa Savage, M.I others 'feature' in Hollywood movies. Other celebs 'react'.

Warning! Like Manchester United’s chances of winning the English Premier League this season, this shouldn’t be taken serious. This brilliant photoshop features the likes of D’banj, Tiwa Savage, MI, Sarkodie, Harry Song, Mo Eazy, Ms J, Lynxxx. Kudos to the brain behind it. He goes by the name @howfarna_guy on twitter. The icing on the cake are the comments. They are fictitious too.

FUNKE AKINDELE AND YAW TO RAISE THE BAR

Successful yoruba actress, Funke Akindele-Oloyede and popular OAP Steve Onu, also known as Yaw are becoming some brands’ choice comperes. And if anyone has noticed, they anchored many events last year and now this year they will hopefully anchor more, but beyond that, the talented pair have something up their sleeves.

Few weeks after Yaw had the premiere of his new TV sitcom called – ‘Yaw’s n’ Myn’, at the Silverbird Cinemas, the producer and actor has actor is out with another creative programme.

Titled ‘The Bar’, the 2-man play which also stars Funke Akindele-Oloyede will be staged at Muson Center, Onikan on 6th March, 2013. Billed to be present at the show are top music acts like Iyanya, MI as well as comedians.

According to Yaw, the play is not your conventional comedy show but, it’s more of a ‘satire. “I believe a satire should be like a rubber sword. It doesn’t pierce like a real sword would; but the person it touches will definitely feel the impact.

The audience should expect twists and turns in the performances, suggestive innuendos and plenty of meanings in between the lines of the script. But they should also expect to laugh, because at the end of the day, it is comedy.” He affirmed.
