Kelechi Iheanacho moves to Leicester City in £25m deal

Nigerian footballer, Iheanacho Kelechi has sealed a move to Leicester City from Manchester City in a deal valued at £25m.
The club has also insisted on a £50 million buy-back option for the striker
Iheanacho, who had a medical at Leicester’s training ground on Tuesday is expected to be officially unveiled in the next 24 hours. The 20 year-old could make his Leicester debut in Friday’s friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach at the King Power Stadium.

As revealed by Telegraph Sport last month, Leicester agreed a fee and terms nearly four weeks ago for the Nigeria international and have had to be patient while the impasse with his agents was resolved.

John Obi Mikel, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho make 30-man shortlist for African Player of the Year award

Nigeria’s John Obi Mikel, Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho have been shortlisted for the 2016 CAF African Player of the Year Award. Other African footballers eyeing the prize include Samuel Eto’o of Cameroon, Andre Ayew of Ghana and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabon.

The award ceremony will hold on January 5, 2017 in Abuja.

World Cup qualifying fixture has been adjudged CNN goal of the week. 
The 20 year-old garnered 75% of the total votes
cast. Portuguese forward, Cristiano Ronaldo
came second with 20% of the votes while Alfred Effiong and Ivan Aguilar came
third and fourth respectively in the poll.

Iheanacho beats Yekini, Siasia’s records

Qualifier involving Super Eagles and Zambia on Sunday afternoon saw him break
the record for goals in consecutive games. The 20 year-old found the net for
the fourth straight game in the Super Eagles 2-1, beating records set by Rashidi
Yekini and Samson Siasia, who both scored in three consecutive matches for the
Super Eagles. 


The CAF Most Promising Talent Of The Year registered his name in the score sheets during his first two games
for Nigeria,  1-0 win over Mali in May,
as well as against Luxembourg, Tanzania and Zambia.

While Yekini netted scored in three consecutive games at the 1990 African
Nations Cup, against Egypt, Ivory Coast and Zambia, former Eagles coach Siasia scored
against Benin Republic in an AFCON qualifier in 1991 as well as against Burkina
Faso and Senegal.

Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho make 2016 Golden Boy Award shortlist.

Nigerian Internationals, Alex Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho have become the first Nigerians to make it to the 2016 Golden Boy Award shortlist. The Golden Boy Award is dedicated to honouring the best player below the age of 21 in the European nation’s cup division.

Other names included in the list include Tottenham’s Dele Alli, Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen and Nathan, Leicester City’s Demarai Gray, Liverpool’s Marko Grujic and Manchester City’s Leroy Sane.

Iheanacho has made 30 appearances in the Premier League, scored 10 goals and made 4 assists. Iwobi on thr other hand has made 17 appearances, netted twice and delivered 3 assists.

AFCON 2017 Qualifiers : Nigeria beat Tanzania 1-0

A 78-minute strike by Nigeria sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho helped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to slim win over Tanzania in the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers. 
The game took place at the Nest Of Champions in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Unfortunately even with the well-deserved victory, Nigeria will not be participating in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

Kelechi Iheanacho signs new deal with Manchester City

Nigerian football sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho has extended his contract with Premier League side, Manchester City. The 19 year-old who scored 14 times in 35 appearances last season expressed excitement on Manchester City website after the new deal.
 “I can’t express how I’m feeling! I’m very happy to sign my new deal for this Club, I’m excited. “I just need to keep working hard and express my feelings on the pitch, and work really well and do great things for the team. I’m happy and I appreciate everything the Club has done for me so far at this point so I really need to help and work for them as well.”

Iheanacho dropped from Manchester City’s pre season tour

Nigeria football sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho has been omitted from Manchester City’s provisional pre season tour squad. Iheanacho who scored 14 goals for the English premier league outfit opted out of Nigeria U-23 team just to participate in the tour but was left out of the Guardiola-led 32-man traveling party for the tour to Germany and China.

Iheanacho who was very impressive last season scoring 14 goals is looking forward to an even better performance next season. “Everyone knows Pep and what he can do. I think he’s a great manager and I think he’ll bring many things to this team. I haven’t met him yet and haven’t spoken to him. I think we’ll meet him in training.

He continued, “It was a great season last season. I worked hard and did very well, but last season is the past and in the next season I need to work hard and I’ll get my chance.I can play number nine, 10, seven and 11, so I don’t have any [concerns]. I can play different positions. Anywhere I can fit in, I will play. We have great players and we’ve made some great new signings, so I just need to work hard and I’ll get my chance to play.” he said
