teammate, Mathieu Valbuena. The France international was charged with
conspiracy to blackmail Valbuena, over a sex tape, last month. But the Frenchman
has insisted he was only try to help his friend.
He told TF1, “Sincerely, I am not guilty. I’m
being dragged through the mud and treated like a criminal. What happened? It is
simple. I have heard there is a video of him [Valbuena] and I have told him. I
told him I could help him because I have a friend in Lyon who can manage these
problems.
“I told him that if he had told his family
already, he could let this go. I told him I have experienced these sort of
things in the past.

“We never spoke about money. I earn a good living and when I help someone, I
don’t expect anything back.
“Valbuena thanked me the day I told him.
What I do regret though, is this conversation with [my friend Karim] Zenati. I
regret it because we laughed. I think it was understandable. It was
spontaneous. I would have liked to be able to get in contact with Valbuena to
apologise.
“I don’t know the people that blackmailed
him. The only one I know is Karim Zenati. He had his past and went to prison,
but he started a new life since.
“I don’t even understand why I have been in
custody and why they dirtied my name when I was the one who wanted to be heard.
I don’t understand.”

Karim Benzema left out of France squad, faces charges in sex tape case

Real Madrid forward, Karim Benzema has been left
out of 23-man France squad following a sex tape scandal he and another player
have been embroiled in this week. The France international has been accused of conspiring
to blackmail his teammate Mathieu Vaulbena. He was held in custody overnight
and later appeared before a judge in Versailles, near Paris.
He was said to have discussed about the tape
with Valbuena during a national team training session at Clairefontaine in October.
When questioned further, Benzema told investigators he had approached his
colleague about the tape on behalf of a childhood friend.
Sylvain Cormier, Benzema’s lawyers told
journalists his client is innocent and has nothing to hide. “He supports his friend, Mathieu
Valbuena, with all his heart. He took no part, I state this again – no part –
in the blackmail or blackmail attempts. Karim Benzema will show he acted in
good faith, and I hope this will be seen as soon as possible.”
He added.
The 27 year-old who is now under formal
investigation for complicity in attempted blackmail and participation in a
criminal conspiracy has been banned from contacting his France team-mate, or
any other people charged in the case. He could be jailed for a minimum of 5

Arsene Wenger's reaction to Thierry Henry's suggestion that Arsenal should sign Benzema.

Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger has reacted to a suggestion by the club’s legend, Henry Thierry that the Gunners could win the league if they signed Benzema from Real Madrid this summer.

“I respect Thierry Henry a lot for his football knowledge but it’s not as mathematical as that. I believe we can win the league. We look when we go forward like we can score goals. Even when we were dominated in the second half against Chelsea, every time we crossed the halfway line it looked like something could happen.

“I think we have to develop our collective game and we have to depend less on one guy that comes in and scores all the goals. I don’t see why a player like Oxlade-Chamberlain should not have an ambition to score 10 goals, Sanchez can score goals and Ozil has to fix himself a target of at least 10. We can share that more than when Thierry played. I think Giroud will not be far from 20, if he had played all of last season he would have scored 20. Walcott as well.”

Benzema is going nowhere – Benitez

Real Madrid manager, Rafael Benitez has rebuffed claims that striker Karim Benzema will join English side, Arsenal Fc. Benitez says he believes the striker has no reason to leave the club as he is very happy with him and would love to keep him at the club.

“Benzema, I think, is going to stay with us,” he told reporters ahead of his side’s Audi Cup semi-final clash with Tottenham. “I am very happy with him. I have no reason to think he will go.”
The Spanish coach is happy with the squad he has got but believes more signings will be made as they look to improve on last season, in which they lost out on La Liga, Champions League and Copa del Rey to Barcelona, though he refused to comment on the potential signing of David De Gea from Manchester United.

“I said before that Madrid have signed some players and have a great squad, but I aim to improve the team and to be as competitive as we have always been. I have said in five press conferences that I do not want to talk about players of other teams. We have very good goalkeepers in Keylor Navas and Kiko Casilla.”
