Covid-19: La Liga’s online concert raises more than €1m.

Last week Saturday, athletes and musicians participated in an online global music festival organized by Laliga for the fight against the coronavirus crisis. Funds raised will be used for the purchase of medical supplies and to support fans confined to their homes.

The charity event which raised more than €1m had Barcelona’s Gerard Pique, Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and tennis star Rafael Nadal and many others in attendance. The sports stars participated from their homes in the three-hour event shown live to 180 countries through the league’s international broadcasters and streamed via YouTube and Facebook.

“This is something unique, with every league fan around the world, and anybody else, really, being able to contribute with their grain of sand, I’m happy to be able to participate in an initiative like this. It’s a very difficult situation, and for the league to be able to do something like this, it makes players, clubs and fans very proud, It’s nice to see that when people need us, we can unite. I’m proud to be part of something like this, It will be difficult, we will have to go through some difficult moments. People close to us will suffer, some of us will suffer first-hand, but together we have to overcome this, and I believe that together we are invincible. “Barcelona captain Pique said.

“Together we’ll succeed in convincing people about the importance of staying at home at this time, whilst raising money to buy medical supplies, which are in such high demand at times like these,” league president, Javier Tebas said.

“We are concerned with the disasters that we are seeing every day on TV, We are trying to adapt to this, everything is new. The reality is that we have to adapt. It takes time.” Nadal added.

Donations from the festival will continue to be raised until Sunday afternoon.

Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos renew rivalry

Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos and Barcelona’s Gerard Pique‘s rivalry is far from over, not in the nearest future.
The pair renewed their feud during last night’s el-clasico which ended 3-2 in favour of  Barcelona, thanks to a late strike by Lionel Messi.  Ramos was banded a red card at the 77th minute after an attempted two-footed tackle on Messi; his 5th red card in the fixture and 22nd in his entire career.
As Ramos was leaving the pitch, he sarcastically clapped at his arch enemy, uttering some unclear words which seemed to suggest that that the war was far from over.
During his post-match Gerard Pique wasted no time in attacking his opponent.  “When Sergio Ramos gets home, he’ll regret for what he did. The red card is very clear. He goes in two-footed and Messi was away. Here in Santiago Bernabéu, they’re used to very lenient refereeing and when a referee does a good job he’s then the bad guy.”

Ramos sprang up in his own defence saying, “Piqué likes to talk about the referees, and with so much pressure & with his tweets that he complains all the time. For me the red card has been excessive , I admit that I’m late with my tackle but I wasn’t looking to hurt him. I do not regret the gesture to Pique. I regret leaving my team down to 10 men. I have no problems with Pique but just don’t ask me all these questions expecting that I’ll hug him right after. I was clapping at Pique, not at the ref. He defends his & I defend mine. When we aren’t together we defend what is ours. They always talk about the refs but we won’t. Perhaps give the result they won’t this time.”

He added in another interview, “Messi did very well against my tackle, he jumped and you could see that I didn’t touch him. I know Pique said that I’d regret it once I saw the images, but after five minutes of cooling off, I feel the same way.”

Gerard Pique to quit the Spanish national team after 2018 World Cup

defender, Gerard Pique has revealed his intention to quit the Spanish national
team after the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“After the 2018 World
Cup I’ll quit the Spain national team. I have thought about this very
carefully. This is not a decision I take lightly.”
The 29 year-old, was quoted by Spanish news outlet, COPE
The centre-back
has 85 caps for the international side has won both the World Cup (2010) and
European Championships (2012) with the national team.

Gerard Pique suspended for four games

Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has been handed a four-match suspension following his dismissal in the Spanish Super Cup second leg against Athletic Bilbao. Pique protested angrily in the face of a linesman over an offside call during the course of the game and was red-carded by referee Carlos Velasco.
Velasco Carballo’s official report said that the Spain international used foul and abusive language when shouting at the assistant.

“In minute 55 the player [3] Pique Bernabeu, Gerard, was sent off for the following reason: shouting at an assistant referee, “I s— on your f—ing mother,” the report said.
Gerard Pique has apologised for his behaviour in the 1-1 draw, which meant the match finished 5-1 in Athleti’s favour, but denied personally insulting the assistant referee.

However, the Spanish FA (RFEF) said the “video supports” the referee’s report’s claim that Pique did swear at the official.
The centre-back’s suspension means he is set to miss the Liga matches against Athletic (away), Malaga (home), Atletico Madrid (away) and Levante (home).

Pique, who has also been fined €3,005 and his club €1,400, has 10 business days from Thursday to appeal the sanction.

You won't believe what Gerard Pique did to the Champions League final net.

To those who saw the Champions League final match between Barcelona and Juventus that took place in Berlin last Saturday, after the game, I’m sure you didn’t miss the part Barca defender, Gerard Pique cut down the net (he’s done that several times)

So guess what he did with the net? He cut it into pieces and gave it to guests at a wedding ceremony. How weird!lol.
The father of two was unable to attend his close friend’s wedding because ‎he’s playing for Spain today in a Euro 2016 qualifier‎ and so he decided to do something kind-of creative. 
The net was displayed at the venue of the wedding and then portions of it were distributed amongst the guests.

It's another boy for Shakira and Gerard Pique

Columbian singer, Shakira and her footballer heartthrob,Gerard Pique have welcomed baby their second child; a baby boy. The couple’s first child, Milan is 2 years old.

The bundle of joy which arrived lastnight

at about 11pm at the same clinic, Quiron Teknon Hospital in Barcelona, where she gave birth to Milan has been reportedly named Sacha.
