Dimitri Payet completes Marseille move

France Forward, Dimitri Payet has completed his £25m move to Marseille from West Ham.

Recall that Payet, who left Marseille in 2015 to join the Premier league club, refused to play against Crystal Palace two weeks ago and told West Ham he wished to return to his former club. The English club were initially not going to allow him go but they made a u-turn after accepting a fee or more than they paid for him, they however expressed disappointment at his decision.

“The club would like to place on record its sincere disappointment that Dimitri Payet did not show the same commitment and respect to West Ham United that the club and fans showed him, particularly when it rewarded him with a lucrative new five-and-half-year deal only last year. “I would like to make it clear that we have no financial need to sell our best players and that the decision to allow Payet to leave was in accordance with the wishes of the manager and the interests of squad unity.
To be frank, my board and I would have preferred for him to have stayed in order to make an example of him, as no player is bigger than the club.” David Sullivan, club Chairman said on their website.

Fans go berserk after Dimitri Payet refuses to play for West Ham

West Hams fans have been pouring out venom since news surfaced that Dimitri Payet has refused to play for the club. The French hasn’t trained this week after claiming he has a back injury but fans are not having any of it.
The 29 year-old have reportedly told the club of his intention to leave. Initially, the club were not going to sell him but now, they made a u-turn and have decided to  sell him at the best price. Asides the possibility of moving to Marseille, there are reports that Chelsea are making a shock £40 million move for the France international. Last September, Payet was paid £1m loyalty bonus and this and many more has hurt the supporters of the club badly.
Payet has been labelled a traitor and a snake. Asides vituperation on social media, Payet’s wikipedia page was also at the receiving end.


 

Dimitri Payet commits to West Ham

France star, Dimitri Payet who became the target of many high profile clubs after his impressive form in club and stellar performances at the Euro 2016 has shrugged off transfer speculation.
Payet, who joined West Ham last summer for £10.7 million and was on the radar of Manchester United and Real Madrid during the just concluded tournament has confirmed he would be staying put at West Ham.
“I’ve heard about all the interest and I’m flattered but I love West Ham. “We had a fantastic season and I can’t wait to play in the Olympic Stadium. “I’m 100% staying at West Ham, I love the club. I can tell the Hammers fans that.”  he said.
