Legendary musical superstar, david Bowie has died after an 18-month battle with cancer. Bowie, who rose to prominence as alter-ego Ziggy Stardust, before releasing his first solo album , Man of Words, Man of Music died at the age of 69. His last performance was at a charity gig in New York in 2006. had only released a new album of seven songs, Blackstar, last Friday, his birthday.

A statement on his official facebook page read; “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.”
