Taking the no 1 spot of the most hated footballers in the world list is Liverpool’s Luis Suarez; of course his biting episodes can’t be forgotten in a hurry; Parma’s Antonio Cassano is the 10th.

2013 BALLON D'OR AWARD: RIBERY IS STILL PAINED, SAYS RONALDO WON NOTHING. (READ HIS QUOTE)

Who hasn’t gotten over the 2013 Ballon d’Or award thing? Everyone in the world except Bayern Munich Star, Franck Ribery and he has decided not to bottle up his feelings. According to him, losing to Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo was robbery and the extension of the voting deadline a political decision.

“I won everything I could win with Bayern and individually. Ronaldo on the other hand did not win anything. I am not sad that I missed out, but it does hurt a bit. I deserved to win the Ballon d’Or. It was clear that Ronaldo would win it. The voting deadline was extended by two weeks. This had never happened before. It wasn’t about football. It was a political decision. There are only three Bayern players in [the FIFPro team of the year]. That’s madness. [Thomas] Muller 
deserves to be there, and so do [David] Alaba,[Bastian] Schweinsteiger and [Arjen] Robben. We won five titles and made history. And then there’s the absence of Borussia Dortmund players… Where are [Mario] Gotze and [Robert] Lewandowski? This is impossible”

CRISTIANO RONALDO WINS 2013 BALLON D'OR AWARD

Well deserved honour! If I were to gauge public opinion, the credibility of the FIFA Ballon d’Or award will be affected if Cristiano Ronaldo did not win the 2013 Ballon d’Or award. Fans would vent their anger via social media platforms and probably carry placards carried in every nook and cranny of the world.
CR7 has fondly called was declared winner by football legend, Pele in a ceremony held at Zurich, switzerland.
The Portuguese like I mentioned earlier recorded 34 goals and 10 assists last season along with 20 and 4 in 17 Liga games this season. His decisive hat-trick against Sweden in November did not only propel Portugal into the World Cup-Ronaldo but also wowed his fans and . Lastly, the extension of the voting deadline also “ruled” in his favour.
Congrats to the Real Madrid hitmaker.

So I got this interesting article from Cr7 fan site. I know I’m going to get a couple of messages after this post (from people who would consider me biased), I’m really not bothered. Ps: It might interest you to know that I’m neither a Madrid or CR7 fan. I root for Barcelona, a MessiVoltron for that matter.hehehe. Note: the points were NOT written by me. I only shortened them.
3 players are in contention for the 2013 Ballon d’Or award. (Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Franck Ribery). These are 7 reasons why CR7 fans think he should win this year’s award.
By the way, CR7 might not travel to Zurich next year because of the way Blatter mocked him last October.
 
 
7 reasons on why Cristiano Ronaldo should win
 
(1) Most goals scored in the 2013 calendar year
Club and Country records; Cristiano Ronaldo scored 67 goals, Messi 45, Ribery 21 goals.
 
(2) Helped Portugal qualify for World Cup on his own
If it hadn’t Portugal wouldn’t have made it to the World Cup. In 2013, CR7 scored 10 goals out of 9 appearances.
 
(3) – Top goalscorer of the UEFA Champions League
The Real Madrid forward finished the last Champions League campaign (2012-13) with 12 goals scored. Franck Ribery scored 1 goal despite Bayern Munich winning the CL trophy. Messi came 3rd.
(4) Odds favourite –
This means the real chances each player has of winning the FIFA Ballon d’Or. On the day voting closed, Ronaldo odds to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or were stacked at 1.25, while Messi and Ribery both had a payout factor of 6.00. As at Dec 5, Ronaldo’s odds were set around 1.60 as of today.
 
(5) The delay of FIFA’s voting deadline
FFIFA extending Ballon d’Or voting for two more weeks means Ronaldo’s performance during Portugal Vs Sweden could still weigh in the decision process. The deadline extension has undoubtedly benefitted Ronaldo, Ribery didn’t really influence France’s win against Ukraine and Messi didn’t even play during this period due to an injury.
 
(6) – The most 2nd place titles ever for the Ballon d’Or award
No other player in football history has been voted the 2nd best player in the World (on a calendar year) for so many times as Ronaldo. CR7 has finished in 2nd place for 4 times already. If he finishes 2nd again after all he has done in 2013, then it seems safe to say that he will never win this award again.
(7) The “Blatter effect”
After FIFA president Joseph Blatter’s disrespectful remark during the Oxford Union Society event on October 25, many people who had always been neutral towards Ronaldo’s claims about being treated unfairly by FIFA over the past years, suddenly decided to back up and side with Ronaldo. These people can actually include some who have already cast their votes for the upcoming 2013 FIFA Ballon d’Or.

DIDIER DROGBA MAKES HISTORY

Ivory Coast/Galatasaray forward, Didier Drogba has emerged the first African player to win the prestigious Golden foot award. The 35 year-old beat world club players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Andres Iniesta, Frank Lampard, Iker Casillas, Samuel Eto’o, David Beckham, David Trezeguet, Andrea Pirlo and Miroslav Klose to win the 2013 prize. He’s also emerged the first player in history to win 4 Ballon d’Or trophies and at the same time piped out his Madrid nemesis, Cristiano Ronaldo and team mate, Andres Iniesta to win the highly-coveted award.

Acknowledging his team mates, the 25 year-old Argentine said, “This is impressive. I want to share this trophies with all Barça players, especially with Andres today, and the ARG players. As I always say, without my teammates, I wouldn’t do what I do. Football is a team sport.”

BARCELONA'S LIONEL MESSI GETS GOLDEN BOOT AS EUROPE'S TOP-SCORER

For scoring 50 goals in the Spanish league, Barcelona forward, Lionel Messi has received his second Golden Boot award. The Argentina international edged his Real Madrid rival, Cristiano Ronaldo by four goals.

The 25 year-old who also scored his 300th and 301st career goals last week dedicated the award to his teammates. "it is a prize for scoring goals, but without my teammates I couldn't have scored them."

His first Golden Boot for 34 goals which he got in 2010 helped Barcelona win the league title.
