Copa Del Rey: Alba, Neymar seal Barcelona hard fought victory

Another title in the Catalans bag!

Barcelona today clinched their 28th Copa Del Rey title and sealed a record domestic double with a hard fought victory over Sevilla. The game ended a goalless draw after 90 minutes and both teams had to go on extra time. However, Barcelona’s much needed breakthrough came after Jordi Alba converted a magical assist from Lionel Messi at the 97th minute of the game. Neymar provided the icing on the cake at the 122th minute of the thrilling encounter.

It wasn’t rosy for the La Liga giants at first as Macherano picked a red card at the 36th minute and Barca were down to 10 men. Like that wasn’t enough,  Suarez picked an injury and had to be taken out of the game.

Luis Suarez gets 2-match ban for tunnel row

Barcelona vs Espanyol
Barcelona star, Luis Suarez has been handed 2-match ban following his row with Espanyol players after the Catalan’s 4-1 victory against the club in the Copa Del Rey on January 6. The ex Liverpool man had confronted the rivals after the game and had reportedly shouted, “I’m waiting for you, come here! You’re a waste of space,”
Barcelona confirmed the new development on its official website
“FC Barcelona received notification on Friday from the Spanish Football Federation that striker Luis Suárez was to face a two-match suspension for allegedly taking part in a scrum between players from Barça and Espanyol in the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms following Wednesday’s Copa del Rey last 16 first leg at Camp,” the club said.
“FC Barcelona will immediately proceed to appeal the ban. If the sanction holds up, Suárez would miss the return leg next Wednesday and a hypothetical first leg of the quarter-finals, should Barça qualify.
“In the appeal, FC Barcelona is expected to argue that the player, as he later stated, did not use the allegedly offensive words that were attributed to him in the referee’s official notes following the match.”

Real Madrid expelled from Copa Del Rey

Real Madrid have been disqualified from the Copa del Rey competition for fielding an ineligible player.  Cheryshev, the player in question who received three yellow cards in the competition last season on loan at Villarreal scored the first goal for the Blancos during their clash with Cadiz on Wednesday night.
Shortly after an official complaint was filed by Cadiz, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez called a press conference insisting that he wasn’t aware of the 24 year-old’s suspension.
That apparently didn’t do much as the Spanish authorities today threw them out of the competition.

Real Madrid face disqualification from Copa Del Rey

Denis Cheryshev
Real Madrid could be expelled from the Copa Del Rey
competition for fielding an ineligible player during their clash with Cadiz
last night. The 24-year-old player Denis Cheryshev who scored the opening goal
of the game was on loan at
Villarreal last season, and
earned three yellow cards and a one-match suspension. He wasn’t meant to be on Real’s
line up because he is still serving a ban.
Although the Russia international was substituted few
seconds into the second half, Cadiz
President Vizcaíno has announced that they will report Real Madrid’s illicit
line-up. The
Blancos if found guilty, might be expelled from the competition. Osasuna were
expelled from the Copa Del Rey for a similar offence in September.
Real Madrid manager, Rafael Benitez has however denied
knowledge of the suspension.
“Of course the club knew nothing. We were not informed
by either Villarreal or the Royal Spanish Football Federation and when we were
notified, we took him off to show good faith,”
He wrote on Real’s official
website.

Copa del Rey: C Ronaldo spotted consoling Messi after Barca defeat

Lol! Doesn’t even look a tot like Ronaldo. Someone sent the picture to me last night and was wondering what sort of giant was beside Messi. Is it my eyes or Ronaldo looks taller. Anyways the current world best was spotted consoling his rival after barca’sCopa del rey defeat lastnight. Well, indirect mockery or “straight from the heart”? The most important thing is Madrid won.lol

According to hereisthecity.com, Jose Mourinho has been at the centre of a broken relationship between the world best players. He reportedly told Real Madrid to portray the role of ‘The Bad Guys’ because “friendships with Barcelona do not exist”. This doesn’t make them friends though!
