'I've done all I can' – Messi to retire from international football.

Argentine star, Lionel Messi has called time on his international career following his side’s loss to Chile at last night’s Copa America final. The 29-year-old who was very distraught after losing a penalty during the penalty shoot-out. This news comes after Argentina recorded their third loss in a major final since 2014.

“For me the national team is over. I’ve done all I can, it hurts not to be a champion. It’s been four finals, it’s not meant for me. I tried. It was the thing I wanted the most, but I couldn’t get it, so I think it’s over.” He said during a post-match interview.

Messi equals Argentina's all-time goalscoring record.

Soccer giant, Lionel Messi has equalled Argentina’s all-time goalscoring record. Messi, who started for the first time in the tournament after three substitute appearances achieved this feat after his side’s 4-1 win over Venezuela in a Copa America quarter-final on Saturday. 
The Barcelona forward’s strike in the 60th minute took his career tally for Argentina to 54 goals, levelling Gabriel Batistuta’s record. Meanwhile Argentina who will now face USA at the semi-final on Wednesday are in prime position to win the Copa America.

Brazil knocked out of Copa America

Brazil have been knocked out of the Copa America tournament for the first time in 30 years. Peru who eliminated them from the group stage did so in a controversial fashion. 

Brazil needed only a draw to qualify for the quarter-finals as winners of Group B, and were on course to cruise into victory but Peru’s Raul Ruidiaz handball goal ensured that they were dumped out of the race.

Messi to appear in court on June 2

Lionel
Messi’s tax evasion case will be revisited on June 2. The Barcelona star will prove
his innocence on tax fraud charges leveled against him by Spanish authorities.

Recall
that the Argentinean and his father, Jorge Messi were charged with three counts
of tax fraud worth €4.1million dating back to a period between
2007 and 2009. He had trial date scheduled between May 31 and June 3.
He
is expected to participate in Argentina’s Copa America opener against Chile
scheduled for June 6.

Argentina talisman, Lionel Messi is yet to recover from his country’s loss to Chile at the at the final of the Copa America tournament. Here’s what the 27 year-old posted on his facebook page.
“There’s nothing more painful in football than losing a final. But I don’t want to leave it any longer to say thank you. to everyone who has always supported us, and continued to do so during the tough moments…to everyone who has always supported us, and continued to do so during the tough moments.”

Copa America: David Ospina's incredible double save almost 'killed' Lionel Messi.

 Can we agree Arsenal goalkeeper, David Ospina’s rating shored up after this? Argentine Forward, Lionel Messi has spoken of his bewilderment after the Colombian blocked two shots in quick succession (a matter of seconds) in Friday’s Copa America quarter-final win over Colombia.

The global soccer star told reporters at the end of the game he was taken aback by Ospina’s incredible saves. “When I saw him on the ground, I thought he wasn’t getting up. Then when I saw that he’d gotten up to make the save, I wanted to die.”

Neymar gets 4-match ban

Brazilian forward, Neymar has been handed a 4-match ban following his poor conduct in Brazil’s 1-0 Copa America loss to Colombia on Thursday. ‎Recall that he picked a red card after he angrily kicked a ball at Colombia’s Pablo Armero even after the final whistle was blown.
That wasn’t all, he reportedly waited for Chilean referee Enrique Osses at the tunnel and verbally abused him. Bad of him!
He was initially suspended for one match but the South American football confederation CONMEBOL extended the ban and imposed a $10,000 (£6,300) fine.

Ronaldo blasts Neymar over poor conduct

My poor Neymar. Recall that his ex team mate,  Xavi advised him to reflect on his attitude two weeks ago. Brazilian legend, Ronaldo De Lima is far from pleased with the Barcelona star ‎for his conduct in Brazil’s 1-0 Copa America loss to Colombia few days back.
Immediately the full-time whistle was blown, Neymar  angrily kicked a ball at Colombia’s Pablo Armero and got  himself a red card. Later on, he  blamed his attitude on poor officiating but Ronaldo deemed his excuse as flimsy.
“It’s not justified, what he has said and done. Currently he is going through a tough time. He is acting very aggressively and he is not accepting anything that happens. In the Brazil jersey, you cannot do that.” He said on Globo.
