Meet Queen Dakoru Williams, Miss Tourism Nigeria (South-South) 2014.

Dakoru Williams hails from IDO, in the Kalabari kingdom of Rivers state. The 22 year-old represented Rivers State at the recently-held Miss Tourism Nigeria 2014 and was crowned Miss Tourism South-South. The 5.10″ Model is studying Economics at the University of Port-Harcourt.
Dakoru plans to launch her foundation, THE “QUEEN DAKORU FOUNDATION” which would be aimed at empowering South-South girls on education, talent and self employment. She wants to motivate them into finding the superheroes in themselves and help them discover their true worth.

His love for food isn’t very evident as he loves to exercise as well, his charming runway and photo presence can never be over-emphasized.
(3) CHIDINMA LYNDA NMARAM-
This 23 year-old photogenic damsel is a beauty to behold, she was amongst the top 16 finalists at the 2014’s Miss Tourism Nigeria, she holds a B.scin Economics from the Abia State University, she loves the camera so much and wishes to grace the covers of international fashion magazines someday, this well spoken lady also plans to hit the big screen soonest as an actress and a TV host.

(4) NDUKWE NKECHI CYNTHIA-

This 20 year old subtle beauty is one whose love for modeling is more of a passion than flair, the linguistics and communication student of University of Port-Harcourt is one whose sense of humor is enough to cure the ill, her intelligence is another asset to her budding talents and gifts.

(5) ADEFOLA
Enigmatic Fola would rather be called “Peng de Fola”, he is an extremist to body building and healthy living; currently a student at the prestigious University of Lagos, Fola is one gentleman who has got the “Manly grace”; his presence and carriage is one to wonder about as he speaks with utmost caution. Fola who is 24 years old feels he has what it takes to rival most international black models.

Denmark's Dane Nicklas Pedersen is Mr World 2014

Dane Nicklas Pedersen from Denmark has won the Mr World 2014 pageant held in Torbay, yesterday, 15th June, 2014. The 23 year-old carpenter beat 45 other contestants to win the prize.

Nigeria’s Emmanuel Ifeanyi Ikubese, an actor who’s starring in the award winning MTV series “Shuga” was the first runner up. Jose Pablo Minor from Mexico was the second runner up.

Face of Beige 2014: Meet the final 13 models

13 models have emerged finalists of the “FACE OF BEIGE 2014″online competition. From 9th June, 2014, these models would seek for likes and comments to determine their fate as worthy brand ambassadors. The results shall be purely on voting basis, this is to determine the model with the highest social media strength enough to become the brand ambassador. The thirteen finalist were handpicked from the management’s three offices in Lagos,Accra and Port harcourt.

The Winner shall be the FACE,Brand Ambassador and Spokes person for the management (Beige Model Management) and will also have his or her pictures used on all company’s publication materials; grace top runway shows ; have a minor pet project and also enjoy exclusive promotion.

Application for the 2014 Mr & Miss Nigeria UK Beauty Pageant now open!

Mr & Miss Nigeria UK 2014, a beauty pageant aimed at celebrating and enriching the Nigerian culture in the UK is taking over London in October, in celebration of the Nigerian Independence. The pageant will help further develop Nigeria and bring awareness to its underlining issues, and will serve to connect British born and raised Nigerians with their heritage back home.
The event is held in support of Earth’s Heaven Care Foundation, a non-profit, youth led organization involved and poised to promote creativity and enterprise development among less-privileged and vulnerable teenagers in Nigeria. Hello budding models or model wannabes! This information should interest you. Find out what makes a good modelling portfolio and how you should show yourself to the world! Your modelling portfolio has a “voice”. It’s all about setting good standards, creating great impressions and then connecting with the right people.
Before putting together a modelling portfolio, it is important to know what type of modelling you can do. A portfolio of a Freelance model would probably include a variety of different types of photos, while a portfolio of a high fashion model would have high fashion images, and so on. So be realistic from the very onset of your career to avoid any setbacks or rejections due to the fact that you are attempting to enter a type of modelling that is not best suited for you.
You should know that your modelling portfolio is a true first impression of yourself as a model. A portfolio will always be the first thing that agencies and clients look at before they even choose to see you in person. And for that reason, it is highly recommended to focus on the building of an impressive modelling portfolio that will enable you to establish a successful career as a model. Pay attention to the quality of the photos you choose to include in your portfolio. These photos need to impress agencies and clients alike and make you stand out from the rest. So always aim to project the best possible image of yourself.
Here are a few things to remember when building a modelling portfolio:
(1) It is better to have fewer photos that are great, than having more photos that are of poorer quality. So the rule of thumb is that less is more. As a new model, your portfolio should have 6 – 12 photos, especially when you are presenting yourself to a new agency. As an established model, your portfolio should ideally have anywhere between 10 and 25 photos.
(2) Always keep in mind that the purpose of a modelling portfolio is not only to show your good looks, but it should also demonstrate your ability to portray different characters, age ranges and personality. For this reason you should include good headshots without makeup, these are called Polaroids. It’s also important to have good body shots, with swimwear or tight-fitting clothes, especially if you plan to apply to the larger model markets.
(3) In terms of the type of photos to include in your model portfolio, there are no specific rules that you should follow, but just remember to keep your portfolio as professional as possible by only including high quality photos. Do not feel pressured to include pictures where you are in a swimsuit or lingerie, unless that is the type of modelling you want to work in. As long as you know what type of modelling you are looking to do, that should be enough to give you some direction as to what kind of pictures to include.
