Bayelsa Gubernatorial Poll: Tinubu urges Sylva to contest

The former governor of Lagos State and All Progressives Congress (APC) National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Chief Timipre Sylva to contest the Governorship election in Bayelsa State.Tinubu also charged Bayelsans to ensure that Sylva becomes the next governor of the state in view of placing the state on the right path.

“I want him to contest the governorship election because of his proven leadership qualities and our belief that he can bring change to the state” he said. Tinubu who met Sylva at his Abuja home not only endorsed him as the party’s consensus candidate for the governorship election but commended him for his contributions to the development of the party in Nigeria, particularly Bayelsa State.
//

“It is time for Bayelsans to unite and support a person who can effectively enhance unity, provide opportunities for all and lead the people in a different direction” He expressed total and unreserved support for Sylva’s aspiration to clinch the party’s ticket and governorship seat. He mandated APC leaders and members in Bayelsa State to support his choice.”

If you want change, if you’re unhappy with the direction of Bayelsa State, then you must join the governorship race and change the state for the people”.Tinubu, who also described Sylva as an agent of change, is pushing for the former governor of Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, to occupy the governorship position.

Oba of Lagos not a member of APC, he cannot speak for us – Tinubu

Former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu while speaking at a rally held yesterday for the Gubernatorial candidate of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode said the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu is not a member of the APC and can not speak on behalf of the party.
This is coming few days after the paramount ruler came under fire for threatening the Igbos in the state with death.
The APC chieftain mentioned that he is the first Yoruba governor to ever appoint an Igbo commissioner ‎and that the opposition party are making baseless accusations against the APC.

Tinubu said, “The Oba is not a politician. His job is to accommodate all political parties whether PDP, APC or SDP. So, what did he (Ubah) go and do at the palace? Is the Oba a politician?

“To you Igbo, don’t we pay your children’s school fees like others? Or is it the palace that pays for it? When we conducted an exam and a spelling competition, an Igbo boy, Ebuka, from Anambra, came first and he became the governor for one day.
“Those that won the competition three times in a row were Igbo. Ebuka was sent to Switzerland computer school and then Obafemi Awolowo University. We did not say he was an Igbo boy and he would not enjoy. He became an executive in Oando and he is now in Canada.
“Another boy, Felix, won and went to Switzerland and OAU. We paid his scholarship; we did not deny him because he is Igbo.”

Photo: Bola Tinubu branded Nigeria's Machiavelli.

Former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made the cover page of foreign business newspaper, Financial Times. The story on the APC chieftain was captioned, “Nigeria’s Machiavelli: How A Political Godfather Helped Bring Down A President”.

Excerpts from the article.

The political godfather of Nigeria’s south west, Mr Tinubu’s unlikely alliance with the austere former military ruler, now president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, made possible the first opposition victory in Nigeria’s electoral history.‎

Described as “deeply Machiavellian” and a “master strategist” by one of his party peers, the Jagaban has cannily built a political empire among ethnic Yorubas in Lagos and the south west, as formidable, according to allied politicians, as that of Obafemi Awolowo, who led Nigeria’s second largest ethnic block at independence.‎”

Opinion: Tinubu and the burden of morality | By: Samue Ajayi

I watched the AIT documentary on APC National Leader (I still wonder what that office is for) Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and two things emerged: I learnt NOTHING and also learnt SOMETHING.
First, I was aware of the primitive acquisition by the politician. So it was nothing. It was the magnitude of the acquisition that shocked me. That was something.
However, let us assume that ONLY HALF of those ‘allegations’ are true, it is height of immorality and obscene abuse office. Imagine this: how many former governors are still occupying former houses originally owned by the state government, both valued at N1.1b?
The house, according to the documentary, at 5 Oyinkan Abayomi, VI, was owned by Lagos state government but has been ‘ceded’ to Tinubu as retirement benefit. Same for the house he lives in at Bourdillon. If it was a former PDP governor that did this and APC came in, would they not have revoked such crazy arrangement?
What of some shocking acquisition of lands, properties and then the mind boggling activities of Alpha Beta and Hitech Construction milking Lagos dry? Like I said, we knew these things. It was their magnitude that shocked someone like me. Having said this, this is exactly where my grouse with APC is.
They keep shouting change but YOU CAN NEVER CURE ME OF AN AILMENT THAT IS RAVAGING YOUR OWN BODY. PDP is stealing us blind. Jonathan is being attacked mainly on his inability to fight corruption.
He is allowing his friends and Niger Deltane to fleeze us. But those attacking him are much worse in every aspect. Or what is Tinubu doing differently?
They are grabbing and grabbing as if tomorrow will be no more. Haba! Lai Mohammed met with some select editors recently and admitted to them that Tinubu and Amaechi are the major sponsors of Buhari. How can this saint Buhari be claiming to be change agent to help us kill corruption with these two men as his financiers?
Their major vocation in the last 15 years was being state governors.
The rumor is flying around that the federal government wants to ground the APC presidential campaign by freezing the account of Tinubu and Amaechi; a direct admission of these two being rich enough to fund a presidential campaign.
WHERE DID THEY GET THE MONEY? WHAT MORAL RIGHT TO ACCUSE ANOTHER ONE OF CORRUPTION? I used to think only saints are in APC! But hypocrisy is APC’s number one disease.
Finally, I learnt Tinubu is threatening to sue AIT. He won’t be short of SANs to help him. Eight of them did when Conduct Bureau charged him.
Apart from legal fees, they all got a brand new Toyota Camry 2013 model. I knew the day that brand new Toyota Camry 2013 model were delivered to the office of a prominent Human rights activist.
EIGHT units of that car were bought same day each valued at N8m then. Their cocoa don ripe again. Only this time, it is empty threat! He CANNOT.
Those who did research on that documentary have their facts. He has petitioned the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC. That is a face saving move. But court? I pray he does.
Then he will know the limit of propaganda; especially using the media to ACCUSE SOMEONE OF WHAT IS YOUR OWN WAY OF LIFE.

AIT replies Tinubu's lawsuit threat, demands apology&N100 billion In damages.

‎It’s (un) officially the season of lawsuits in Nigeria. The latest plaintiff being renowned media outfit, Daar Communications, owners of African Independent Television (AIT) and defendant, ex Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The lawsuit is coming few days after the APC chieftain threatened to sue DAAR Communications in tune of N200bn for damages for airing a documentary titled  “Unmasking the real Tinubu”.
AIT has also demanded apology&N100 billion In damages.
Daar Communications Plc has reacted and rejected in their entirety the demands of Tunji Abayomi and co on behalf of Bola Tinubu over a documentary titled “Unmasking The Real Tinubu” transmitted on African Independent Television, AIT, according to a publication on its website.
The demands, which Mike Ozekhome’s chambers describe as laughable, include the stoppage of further transmission of the alleged defamatory documentary, failure which Daar communications will be made to pay twenty billion Naira representing damages.
In its reaction, Mike Ozekhome’s chambers on behalf of DAAR communications declares that AIT, in transmitting the documentary was only carrying out its constitutional responsibility to uphold the fundamental objectives of the constitution.

It states further that the documentary merely stated that Bola Tinubu generally breached various portions of the Nigerian constitution.

DAAR communications plc is therefore demanding a complete withdrawal of the letter under reference, which must be given wide publicity as that accorded the letter from the chambers of Tunji Abayomi.

The media company demands an apology to be published in at least four leading national newspapers and four television stations, which must include NTA, Channels and AIT.

The sum of one hundred billion Naira representing aggravated, punitive and exemplary damages for the irreparable injury inflicted on AIT is also being demanded.‎”

Tinubu sues AIT for N20bn

APC Chieftain and ex Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sued renowned broadcast media outfit, African Independent Television (AIT) for publishing a ‎false and malicious documentary titled, ‘Unmasking The Real Tinubu” yesterday, March 1st, 2015 at about 11pm.
A press release from Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s media office reads.

All Progressives Congress National Leader Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to sue the management of the Daar Communications Limited, owners of the Africa Independent Television, AIT for the defamatory content of a documentary aired on Sunday.

Counsel to Asiwaju Tinubu, Tunji Abayomi, said a letter asking Daar Communications to apologize for the content and stop further airing was delivered this afternoon.

” … You aired an hour long documentary focussing on our client (Bola Tinubu). Clearly pre-occupied with political resentment and hatred neither warranted, necessary, proper, or justified, you published several false allegations against our client…More disturbing is your misrepresentation that the said documentary was “sponsored” without disclosing the “sponsors”.

You cannot under law, hide under media freedom to maliciously injure a citizen’s reputation”.
The letter also demanded for N20billion (Twenty Billion Naira) as cost of damage done to the reputation of its client failing which the client will sue the company.

“…to affirm the right of our client against your defamatory publication, we demand that you confirm to us within 24 hours of receipt of this letter, an apology and retraction of the said publication/documentary.”

Femi Fani-Kayode fires more shots at Tinubu, Lai Mohammed.

All these accusations, counter accusations, name-calling and fracas between both parties will end someday. Another one from Femi Fani-Kayode. This was posted on his facebook page.)

It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but rather Bola Tinubu that slurs when he speaks. It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but rather Bola Tinubu that has to take 20 pills before he can go out. It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but Bola Tinubu that his hands shake when he tries to lift his fork and knife and eat.

It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but rather the spokesman of the APC, Lai Mohammed, that is rotting from inside and that has the chronically bad breath of a rabid poll cat. Lai’s breath is so bad that it is enough to knock out a polar bear from across the street.
It is not Femi Fani-Kayode but rather Lai Mohammed who is suffering from loose bowel movements and who defecates every other minute to the point that he often has to wear pampers when he goes on long journeys.
So, if anybody wants to talk about ill health. They should talk about themselves and not about me. I repeat my name is Femi Fani-Kayode, and nobody can kill me before my time. Nobody can cut me short.
I harbor no fear of violence but I do not take threats lightly. Neither do I fear for my life. Because I have never shed innocent blood and because I do not believe in violence or worship the devil, the Angel of the Lord will strike dead any person or any group of persons that seek to take my life or the life of any of my loved ones.
This I decree in the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the God whose I am and the God whom I serve”

Below is the article that prompted Femi Fani-Kayode’s response.  Tinubu released the statement via one of his Special Assistants.
Fani-Kayode is not as smart as he thinks. If you read between the lines of his hysteria you see another extreme sentiment: that of surging desperation. His statement indicates that even he now realizes that his pay master has lost to Buhari/Osinbajo.

The game is over. The whistle has blown. What the fantasy man seeks to do is change the game. He seeks to run against Tinubu in hopes the outcome will be better. Fani now grasps at straw in the night wind.”

That FFK(Femi Fani-Kayode) is the best a ruling party can do as a spokesman speaks volumes about the PDP. They are bereft of talent and character. They are filled with lies and chicanery. FFK is simply the worst and most outspoken of a bad lot.”

“Instead of scaring the people away from the APC, his work scares people that someone so unfit is so close to the seat of power, someone so unhinged is given free rein to spit bile and call that public discourse. One must wonder who is unbalanced, the misfit or he who hires him. Keep at it FFK. Continue.”
“Most Nigerians are fed up with this government and desire change. They await eagerly that opportunity at the polls. They cannot tolerate four more years of a Fani Kayode, of his paymasters and his utterances. That is your agony Fani Kayode and of course that of the PDP and its gang of destroyers.

You will not be able to persuade majority of Nigerians who are prepared to use their vote for a positive change. And if only to shield the populace from your peculiar brand of abuse of power both you and your boss must go.”

“For the job he is hired to do, it is expected that a Fani Kayode will be blinded to the positive nature of the Buhari/Osinbajo ticket. If he has failed to read and do some research on the character of an Osinbajo, let me help him.
“Yemi Osinbajo is fiercely independent. A brilliant mind of great character and a consummate reformer and legal crusader. You will not dare speak of him in this manner.

The APC ticket is of people of great resolve. But because among your own crowd you have people who will willingly destroy not only our institutions and country you think so of others.

“APC is a party with people of impeccable character. Courageous and patriotic leaders who are out to rescue our nation. And you, Fani Kayode are on record to have said so in several interviews.”‎

“Femi Fani Kayode cannot just leave Tinubu alone because they see him as their political nemesis. But Tinubu will not be their dart board . If they want to see the culprit behind their flagging misfortune, they do not need to glare at Tinubu. They should go home and peer into the nearest mirror. Therein their trouble lies.

“Now that FFK has revealed why his party, the PDP has consistently persecuted Bola Tinubu through phony Code of Conduct Tribunal, massive unjustified attacks against his character and integrity, intimidation and harassment.

“They all have failed. In what is a classic case of abuse of power, the government you now work for have accused Tinubu in the past of baseless and unproven allegations whereas in your party, including yourself, there are wolves feasting on the commonwealth of the people.

“For a leadership that cannot define corruption and theft, we are left with a gang of plunderers. You have openly and secretly stolen and plundered the wealth of the nation without the slightest concern about morality and the suffering masses.”‎
