Adekunle Gold ecstatic after meeting King Sunny Ade

Singer, Adekunle ‘Gold’ Kosoko couldn’t conceal his happiness after meeting the veteran King Sunny Ade during his UK tour. The YBNL act shared the happy feeling on his social media pages


“I MET THE KING: About 2am this morning, I was waiting to fall asleep. That’s how I saw King Sunny Ade on Darey’s instagram Live. We had been billed to perform in the same show. I lost it a little bit and jumped out the now useless bed. Quickly, I got dressed and rushed out of my room to meet baba. As per normal dubs, I prostrated flat in front of him, and waited till he said “Adekunle Gold omo mi, dide”. HE KNOWSSSS MEEE BY NAMEEEE ????. That’s when I started yarning, rambling and everything, with my heart palpitating, about how he’s one of my biggest influences and how his stage performances help me a lot etc. In the middle of our gist, baba started singing “My Life”. OMG. Homie was about to pass out. ?????. I sharply grabbed my phone and asked him to sing it again. He did. To cut the pretty long story short, I lost it (again). Baba prayed for me and gave me golden advice. The one that hit home the hardest was, “Never Copy anyone. Stay true to yourself like you’ve been doing.” “I should fire someone, because I told them I wanted to watch your performance”. KING said. Dreams come true, you see.” He wrote on Instagram.

Adekunle Gold: The 'Golden King' releases new promo pictures

The Golden King by his own admission, rave of the moment artiste, Adekunle Gold has released new promotional pictures as one of his many strategies of branding with the keynote revolved around expressing all facets of his life.
As the pictures well represent, Adekunle Gold displays an unmistakable Afrocentric, cultural vibe From his beautifully patterned and colourful shirts to his golden coloured robe, there are discernible elements of his African identity. From his signature Adire to the map of Africa accessory on his neck, the identity of the singer is definitely unquestionable.
Most striking is the image where he appears donning a golden robe with musical instruments surrounding him. The contrast between the keyboard and the local drums make another emphatic statement.  
The artiste does not make any attempt to hide that there is foreign influence in his music but by the number of drums and other African musical instruments evident in the picture, there is no mistaking the fact that his Yoruba culture and African identity bears heavily upon his foreign influence.
Finally, one cannot but marvel at how he expresses the passion for his gift through the colourful images of him performing  and clutching his microphone . Adekunle Gold is one artiste that is determined to keep music and art lovers alike spellbound for a very long time!
