Cristiano Ronaldo named 2016 UEFA Best Player in Europe

Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo has emerged UEFA Best Player in Europe award Ronaldo. The 32 year-old joins fierce rival, Lionel Messi as the second player to win the award twice.

“Of course, I feel happy because it was an unbelievable season,” Ronaldo said. “But it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t mention these two amazing players [Bale and Griezmann]. Griezmann, I am sorry for your loss to Portugal in the final, but you are an amazing player. It was an unbelievable season.” He said after receiving the award.

UEFA unveil 2015/16 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award Shortlist.

Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Thomas Muller, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann are some of the notable names featured in the 10-man 2015/16 UEFA Best Player in Europe Award Shortlist

The three finalists will be named on 5 August.The jury will then cast their votes for the outright winner, which will be announced during the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on 25 August. The award was won last year by Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.
