My time in prison was a nightmare – Emmanuel Emenike

Who knew Westham striker, Emmanuel Emenike was once locked up in prison?  The ex Nigeria international spent 4 nights in a cell in 2011 following allegations of match-fixing. He was said to have  feigned injury to miss a crucial match against Fenerbahce. This happened during his spell with Turkish first division side, Karabuskor. He was locked behind bars despite producing a doctor’s report to back up his claims and acquitted of the charges in 2013.
Speaking to the SUN, the 28 year-old described the experience as a nightmare.
“My time in prison was a crazy nightmare that I couldn’t wake up from. I’ve never committed a crime in my life but I was treated like a criminal, living on bread and water. It was not a good experience. It gave me a different perspective on life.” he said.
