Jose Mourinho has been fired by Chelsea following a disastrous premier League campaign. The Portuguese who won the premier league title for the Blues just 7 months ago. Chelsea have lost 9 of their 16 games and have found themselves in the 16th position on EPL standings, in the relegation zone.
His successor is yet to be named but the list of possible replacements features names like Pep Guardiola, Juane Ramos, Brendan Rogers, Guus Hiddink and the likes. The 52 year returned to Stamford Bridge for his second spell as coach on June 3, 2013. His first reign was in 2004 and he left in September 2007.
“Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure. Both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough… in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.” The club said in a statement
Ironically (or not), he remains Chelsea’s most successful manager. During his managerial spells, he won 3 Premier League titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and 3 League Cup wins
The last straw
Abramovich pulled the trigger after the team’s loss to Leicester on Monday. Hours after that, he was said to have been locked up in a meeting with the club’s directors to decide the fate of the Portuguese.
