Reports emanating from Spain suggest that Jose Mourinho has taken one step closer to becoming Manchester United manager. The Portuguese who became a managerial target for the club after his dismissal by Chelsea last year has reportedly signed a pre-contract agreement at Old Trafford ahead of a summer move to replace Louis van Gaal. Interestingly, the club have agreed a preliminary contract with the ex Real Madrid boss that will see the club pay him £15m if they don’t give him a deal.
“If United do not sign the final contract (with Mourinho) before May 1st, they must pay £5m; If by June 1st he’s still not signed, they shall pay another £10m. May is the key, because it’s the month in which the vast majority of the signings of players are closed and the plans formed.” A spanish report read.
