According to reports, FIFA is yet to release $9m prize-money Nigeria earned for appearing at the 2014 World Cup because of the lingering crisis rocking the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). This was revealed by the NFF general secretary, Musa Amadu in a recent radio interview in Abuja
“The money is ready, but the katakata (crisis) we have had has meant we are yet to access it. We believe that once everything is sorted, we will get the cash.” He added.
He also mentioned that the NFF would offset the $3.8 million Super Eagles World Cup appearance fee advanced to them by the federal government.
“We have a memo from the sports ministry reminding us of our obligation to the government and once we get the money, we will pay up,” he said.
