Some major streets in Abuja have been named after some distinguished Nigerians and Africans.
The announcement was made during the FCT Executive Committee meeting held at the official residence of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed.
Beneficiaries include President Goodluck Jonathan (Inner Southern Expressway named after President.)
The longest Wuye District Boulevard Express Road‎ was named after former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
Another major road was named after Vice President Namadi Sambo. Asokoro Extension, Guzape, Wupa, Wuye and Maitama Extension districts would be named after the eminent personalities.
Other figures honoured include the late Dr. Chuba Okadigbo; a former Speaker of the House of Representatives and Katsina State Governor-elect, Aminu Bello Masari; Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Dahiru Musdapha, business moguls, Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote, former Secretary-General of the United Nations, Mr. Kofi Annan; South African anti-apartheid activist, the late Walter Sisulu, former CJN, Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi and many others.
