Njideka Akunyili, the daughter of Nigeria’s former minister and Director General of NAFDAC Dr. Dora Akunyili who won a prestigious art prize last June is in the news again for another awe-inspiring reason.

An intimate self-portrait of her husband, Justin, and her titled ‘Drown’ sold for $1,092,500, more than (N300 million) at the Sotheby’s Contemporary Art Evening Sale. It reportedly broke her auction record in the process.
