Hollywood star, Brad Pitt has released a statement in the wake of his split from Oscar-winning wife, Angelina Jolie. The 52 year-old told PEOPLE, “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the well-being of our kids. I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time.”
The couple who have been married for two years and been together for 12 years celebrated their wedding anniversary last month.
Angie’s attorney, Robert Offer, released a statement on her behalf yesterday. “Angelina has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting, and asks that the family be given its privacy at this time.”
Citing “irreconcilable differences.”, in the 11-page legal papers, she asked for full physical custody of the couple’s six children, and joint legal custody. Brad and Angelina are parents to; Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and twins Knoxand Vivienne, 8.
Jolie’s manager, Geyer Kosinski added, “Angelina will always do what’s in the best interest of taking care of her family. She appreciates everyone’s understanding of their need for privacy at this time.”
