Emenike’s retirement: No one is irreplaceable – Sunday Oliseh

Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh, has described the
retirement of Emmanuel Emenike from the national team as a big shocker to him
as well as the squad. Speaking recently to Brilla FM, the ex Nigeria international
said he is yet to come to terms with the decision of the Al Ain forward whom he
has included in the rebuilding plan. He added that all efforts to hear from the
horse’s mouth has proved abortive.
“It was a big shocker for us and a big shocker for me
personally… personally, I still don’t accept that he has retired because
officially I have not heard anything from him and I don’t think the Federation
have also heard from him; only what we know is what was posted on social
media,” “I have made him (Emenike) part of our rebuilding process; in fact, he
has had more playing time than any striker we have had, so I am very very
surprised that he has decided to retire,”
 “He has not
reached me but I have called him twice, because immediately I heard this, first
I thought it was all these lies on social media so I called him twice yesterday
(Tuesday), I am expecting a return call from him, it is when I hear from him
that I would fully accept that he is retiring.”

“He is a man. If a man chooses to retire, it should be his decision; if you
force him back it could be counterproductive…If truly he retires, then it is a
shame because we have him pretty much in our rebuilding plan. Be that as it
may, I have always said only one thing is irreplaceable and that is Nigeria
itself; we are all replaceable and that is it.” He affirmed.

Quitting Eagles wasn't an easy decision – Emenike

Al Ain forward, Emmanuel Emenike has described his decision to retire from the
national team as a difficult one. Emenike who played peace-maker role between
the Oliseh and Keshi row called it quits with the Super Eagles via his
instagram page few days ago. Speaking with BBC Sports, the 28 year-old just like
Enyeama claimed that he withdrew from the squad to allow peace
to reign.
“It was not an
easy decision. I didn’t think my international career would come to a sudden
end, but that is life. Sometimes it’s better to remove yourself from an
environment that doesn’t suit you mentally and physically and this is what I
have done. I also felt it was important that people hear directly from me to
avoid a funny twist to the story. I wish to thank the coaches who gave me a
chance, fellow players and in particular big thanks to all my fans for their
unconditional support.”

Emmanuel Emenike quits Super Eagles

Super Eagles forward, Emmanuel Emenike has called time on his international career. This news is coming two weeks after Lille goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama hung his boots for the national team. During his spell with the Super Eagles, the 28 year-old Al Ain FC Striker appeared in 37 games scored 9 goals won AFCON 2013 and became the tournament’s top scorer.

“No more Eagles career! “After 5 great years, I am happy to announce that I have put full-stop to my Nationa team career for the sake of national peace.” “Its a pleasure for me to have played for this great country. I never regretted it and I think its the best time to end it. Millions thanks to all the fans who have been very supportive during the good and bad times.” “I am very proud of my performance, I am proud of my team mates and I am very proud of the nation called ‘Nigeria’. My AFCON gold medal is a sign of great achievement, My AFCON topscorer award speaks a lot about my commitment and dedication to the team. Super Eagles is a camp not a family house, and it shouldn’t be a threat zone for any individual. I have done according to our national anthem. “All my dreams came true in the national team, I dreamt to win Nations Cup for Nigeria after 20-years, I dreamt to played at the World Cup as well as to make a name for myself… In the space of five years, I got them. I’m a winner! “For every dissapointing fans, maybe due to my inability to re-establish my goal scoring instinct for Super Eagles, I will like to say I’m sorry but the ones I had scored counted well for the team. As long as Nigeria remains, you and I will always remember the name ‘Emenike’. “Finally, I am happy to make a bow and continue supporting the team everytime. Up Eagles, God Bless Nigeria!

NFF to organise testimonial for Enyeama, bans use of social media in camp.

The Nigeria Football Federation has revealed that a testimonial will be organised for Vincent Enyeama, adding that he deserves an honourable exit  from the Super Eagles.

“I told him that he did so well for Nigeria over the past 13-and-half years that he had been there, and by all means, is deserving of honourable exit. Whatever the situation, whether he decides to return to the team or not, NFF will organise a worthy testimonial match in his honour, because he served the nation so well.” NFF boss, Amaju affirmed.

On the row with Enyeama and Oliseh, Amaju maintained that “the head coach is in full charge of the team and the camp at all times, and that fact must be respected. The NFF will support and respect the decision of the head coach of any of the national teams at all times.

“Both Oliseh and Enyeama are true heroes of Nigeria football, if you look at what they achieved at different times. But Oliseh is head coach now and in charge of the team. We will continue to respect his contract; our role as a federation is advisory.”

He however disclosed that a code of conduct for players and officials of the various national teams will soon be implemented.
“A small group had been working on the document and I am happy to say that it is now ready for implementation. This will spell out how players and officials must conduct themselves while in any of the national camps, and minimise the probability of misunderstanding between coaches and players.”

‎ ‎ He continued, “No player launches his career through the social media. When players are at their clubs, they don’t broadcast camp situation on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. The same restraint and discipline must be observed in the national camp.”

Fans win legal suit against club for fixing a game and get €400 each as damages

Fans who attended Bari’s 2-0 home defeat to Lecce in Serie A on May 15, 2011, have been awarded €400 each in damages after it was proven that the game had been fixed. A class action lawsuit was brought against the two clubs by a group of supporters who felt betrayed by the result. Their efforts have been successful, with the judge of the Tribunal of Bari ruling that their “sporting passion had been ruined” that day, decreeing that each of the spectators present at the Stadio San Nicola will be awarded damages.
The costs will be covered by those found guilty of rigging the game, including defender Andrea Masiello, who is currently on the books at Atalanta.
“The fans saw their own sporting values mutated in a way that damaged their habitual life,” the judge, Valeria Spagnoletti, said in quotes reported in the media.
To receive the damages, each fan is required to provide a copy of Masiello’s admission to having fixed the game in addition to further proof, such as the match ticket, that they were at the stadium.
Masiello admitted in November that he had agreed with Lecce management to arrange for them to win the game. He was due to earn €300,000 for his involvement, although only €200,000 was actually paid. By winning the game, Lecce avoided relegation to Serie B.
“In the first half, we played well, like we wanted to win,” he said last year. “But inside me, the necessity of making the team due to the amount of money I had been promised was weighing me down. Unpleasant things happened and I know this and am ashamed of it.”
Spagnoletti said this action had “betrayed” the fans, who had launched a class action led by a solicitor, Luca Maggi — himself a Bari fan who attended that game.

Enyeama has been pampered too much – Onigbinde.

Former national team handler, Adegboye Onigbinde while commenting on the altercation between Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh and ex goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama commended the manager’s act of discipline but stressed that it was carried out in a wrong way. Speaking recently to a PUNCH reporter, Onigbinde said the ‎ex international lacked the experience to manage the situation.

“I commend Sunday Oliseh for the step he has taken. Such acts of indiscipline did not just start in the team. A recent example was Enyeama’s comments on the choice of Kaduna for the Super Eagles match against Chad. It was not his duty to decide which venue the team should play, that’s for the Nigeria Football Federation. By that time, I condemned Enyeama’s position. We cannot allow one or two players to hold the country to ransom. If Enyeama was my son, I would have spanked him seriously for the many wrongs he has done. They’ve pampered him too much.”

He continued, “Oliseh lacked experience in managing the situation. When he was going to be employed by the NFF, I called people’s attention to his lack of experience. His handling of the situation shows he lacks the experience to manage the players.



“He has done the right thing, but in a wrong way; he will get a wrong result. If I was Oliseh, I would have overlooked Enyeama’s behaviour at the moment and go on to execute my plans for the coming games. But after the games, I would simply not invite him for subsequent games. Oliseh doesn’t need to quarrel with players.
“Football is a team game; Enyeama might have his loyalists in the team and they might be sympathetic with their captain. Oliseh is not certain to get the best out of all the players following his manner of handling the matter. The matter is capable of breaking the team into two.

“It is not enough for you to know what to say, it is vital you know where to say it, why to say it, when to say it, how to say it and to whom you say it. An indication of Oliseh’s inexperience happened when he was preparing the team for the Tanzania game. Three days before the game, it was reported that some of the players were complaining of the strenuous training he gave them. You don’t give strenuous workout to players hours before a game; it will cause fatigue. I guess he was trying to impress his employers but that contributed to the poor performance of the players.
“I did not support the NFF’s choice of Oliseh because of his lack of experience, but once he has been employed, I have to accept it and pray that he succeeds.”

Look I am very angry this morning.
Why should Oliseh tell my town man Vincent Eyeama to not only shut up but get security men to walk him out of the grounds. Look this is nothing but racism. Oliseh has never liked Akwa Ibom people since he lost his first girlfriend who happens to be ibibio. He has since been carrying this chip on his shoulder and could not control himself when he saw my brother Vincent do so well in his career. 
He has no right to tell my brother shut up. You too shut up Oliseh, you too gerrout. What is that? How many goals did you even score for Nigeria with your yellow paw paw face. You are lucky I am not near you otherwise I would have squeezed your ear and kicked you in the bum. Go and watch all recent Nigerian matches and see the way Vincent has saved us when your Igbo brothers where busy fooling themselves on the field.

We ibibio people are ready to leave Nigeria because of this matter. This is not that ye ye massob struggle where they keep shouting Biafra at night and in the morning go and open their shops in the market to sell. We will go, we will go and join Cameroun so that Vincent will be given his respect. 
I don’t even care what he did or didn’t do. You will respect him simply because he is an Ibibio man that is all. I demand a full apology to the whole Ibibio nation within the next 24 hours otherwise we will instruct our Senator to look for your Senator and tell him to shut up too and where that does not work, we will ask our Governor to tell your own Governor shut up. 
What is that? This disrespect must stop. Nigerians don’t respect Ibibio people. We gave you guys edika Idong, we gave you guys fine well rounded women, we gave you guys, Akpabio and his uncommon transformation and we gave you guys Etim Esin. We demand respect and we must get it. Remember we have oil, we have palm oil, we have my mother and we have Uyo one of the greatest modern cities of the world. We are taking this matter seriously and will definitely come out with a powerful position demanding our respect as a people. 
Who be this Oliseh sef, a godfather gifted coach. What has he even achieved, how many matches has he won since he became coach, come dey tell Vincent to shut up. He is even lucky, if na me, I for kick am. He needs to get training on leadership and how to manage a team of egosmaniacs. Vincent has paid his dues and has been recognized world over and no matter what should be given his respect as a very senior member of the team no matter the situation.

I swear it’s because he is Ibibio that is why. Can Oliseh try a Yoruba player like that. OPC and the Oshodi boys would be on his scrawny neck or can he try an Igbo player Ohaneze and Massob will show him. It is because he has looked and is seeing house boys and house girls that he thinks Vincent has no support that is why he can open that his ye ye mouth to tell an international world class player to shut up.

I hereby give Oliseh a 24 hour notice to send an unreserved apology to the Ibibio nation otherwise we will unleash our Ekpe masquerade and 1,000 naked Ibibio virgins on him and let’s see if he will survive it. I will personally place a hex on him making sure he doesn’t win any match again until he is disgracefully kicked out of the team and into the River Niger where the hungry fishes will chew out that his mouth. Yeye dey smell.
