FA Statement on Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after an FA charge of violent conduct against him was found proven.
“The Manchester City forward was involved in a 76th minute incident with West Ham United’s Winston Reid on Sunday [28 August 2016], which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
“The club denied the charge and submitted further that if it was to be found proven, the standard punishment  would be clearly excessive.
“On finding the charge proven at a hearing today [Friday 2 September 2016], an Independent Regulatory Commission went on to reject the club’s further claim to decrease the three-match ban.”

Sergio Aguero faces possible suspension over 'elbow' incident

Photo published for Sergio Aguero facing three-match ban after elbowing Winston Reid
The world is calling for a ban on Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero after he elbowed West Ham’s Winston Reid during their 3-1 win at the Etihad Stadium today. The ugly incident happened at the 76th minute of the game after the pair contended for a long clearance from goalkeeper Adrian. During the course, Kun Aguero swung his elbow against his opponent leaving the latter to clutch his neck in pain and eventually leave the game.
More bewildering to fans is that the red card offence was overlooked and he was allowed to continue the game. Aguero could be charged with violent conduct by the Football Association, could face 3-match ban and miss Manchester derby.
Asked to comment on the incident, Pep Guardiola, Manchester City coach said,”I did not see anything. I will see what you are talking about on TV and after that, we are going to see.”

Joseph Yobo to help prisons' inmates secure bail

In a very surprising move, ex Nigeria international, Joseph Yobo has vowed to help inmates currently awaiting trials in the prisons secure bail through his foundation. The ex Nigerian captain made this revelation at the inauguration of Ikoyi Prisons Football Academy in Lagos.

“I have never been to the prisons in my life, but on getting to Ikoyi prisons, I realised the importance to give hope and life to someone. The Joseph Yobo Foundation is ready to do everything within it means to grant bail to as many as possible that are awaiting trial especially those in the facility’s football academy. I thought I will see persons looking very sad, but I saw them very happy, cheerful and looking very hopeful. “I must indeed commend the authorities of the Nigerian Prisons service because from what I have seen on ground, the service is in the right track,” Yobo said
The Kano Pillars ambassador added. “We want to give back to the society in our little way by giving hope to our brothers behind the bars and give them a second chance because no one is above mistake,”

Transfer business is over at Manchester United – Mourinho confirms

Manchester United’s business with the transfer market is over, coach Jose Mourinho has confirmed. The Red Devils splashed a hefty price on four solid acquisitions. Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba  in the summer and the ex Chelsea manager couldn’t be more happier with the quality of the squad.
The Portuguese told MUTV, I think we’ll have a very quiet week in terms of transfers. I am more than happy with the squad. “It’s the first time I’ve worked with such a number of players because I’m
used to working with 20 plus the keepers, and we have in the squad 23 plus the
keepers – and even so we had to make decisions and let some players go on loan,
and try to sell others.”

“But this group of 23 is a great
group and I think in this moment – and I told them this – there is a little bit
of frustration for the ones that I have not selected. They work hard to be in
the match and they aren’t, and this is going to happen in the next two or three
weeks because we have just one Premier League match.
“But,
in September, the League Cup starts, the Europa League starts, we start playing
three matches a week and then everybody is involved and the squad is good. The
empathy between the guys is really good too, so I’m happy with the squad.”
