You can't run the club as your personal fiefdom – Ron Atkinson tells Mourinho

Who else isn’t feeling Jose Mourinho’s tactics at Old
Trafford? Some respected name in football just spoke up.
The Portuguese’s approach to management has been fiercely
criticized by Ron Atkinson who managed the Red Devils for 5 years in the 80s. The 77
year-old advised the ex Real Madrid coach to change his ways adding that his reliance
on a siege mentality will not work at Old Trafford.

And here is the former footballer and broadcaster’s career
advice for the former Chelsea boss, ‘There’s nothing wrong with being fiercely
protective of your players, but that doesn’t mean you have to antagonise
everybody else. I don’t think that approach would work at Manchester United
because it can lead to the club becoming claustrophobic. It is a global brand
and you cannot run it as your personal fiefdom.’

Adebayor isn't buying Lyon's reasons for not signing him.

Togolese footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor is
not impressed with French club, Lyon for pulling out of the race to sign him.
The The Ligue 1 side changed their mind about getting the Arsenal forward and
opted for 19-year-old Jean-Philippe Mateta Chateauroux and this really pissed
the ex Tottenham striker off. The club reportedly changed their mind because of
his desire to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations with Togo and his
ineligibility for the Champions League.
Currently a free agent, the 39 year-old deemed
their excuse ridiculous. He told L’Equipe:They said that? That’s nonsense.
They came to me after we had qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations. They
knew I was going to play. If they start looking for such excuses, they will
kill themselves. I’m the captain of my country, so how could I not go? What if
a Frenchman refused to play in the Euros?”

He continued, “I arrived on Friday
morning to speak to the coach,” he added. “I thought it was just
a medical then to sign. The coach asked me surprising questions. He wanted
to know if I was married, if I had a kid.

“I’ve been playing at the highest level for 15 years
and I have worked with some of the best coaches in the world –
Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho, Didier Deschamps, Roberto Mancini.
“He asked me why it didn’t work at Crystal Palace. I
told him that I’ve always played for teams aiming for the English title or a
European title. It’s the first time I’ve been in a team battling relegation and
the play didn’t suit me”

Goalkeeper arrested for conceding 43 goals

Bizarre: German goalie arrested after his team lose 43:0
I’m just confused. How do you concede 43 goals?
Should the “offence” be excusable because the
goalie is an amateur?
Here’s the scoop. Goal keeper, Marco Kwiotek was
picked up by the police during a training session after his side, SV Vonderort
lost to PSV Oberhausen. The German team consisting of refugees from Syria,
Iraq and Guinea made headlines after they were heavily walloped by their
opponent.
According to the report, shortly before the end of
the session, policemen approached the goalie and whisked him away for
questioning. He was released almost immediately after.

Imagine
a PL or La Liga team conceding 43 goals?

history to start a game without a single Spanish player in their line-up. The
players who featured in the game were from six different nationalities namely
Argentina, France, Brazil, Japan, Italy and Portugal.
Real Madrid  on the other hand beat Espanyol 2-0 away to equal Barcelona’s La Liga record for most
successful wins under Pep Guardiola. The Los Blancos recorded 16 consecutive victories, surpassing the
15-game winning streak recorded by the squad during Miguel Munoz’s tenure in the 1960/61 season.

Ronaldo, Bale ruled out of Espanyol clash

The duo of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale will miss the Los Blancos clash with Espanyol in Catalonia on Sunday, coach Zinedine Zidane has confirmed. While Ronaldo has a sore throat, Bale is suffering from a hip problem.

“Cristiano will not travel with us, he has a sore throat, and he will stay at home. He is not ready. He took a big blow to his hip the other day. With so many games to play, we cannot take risks.

“I want to have Gareth at 100 per cent for a very difficult game on Wednesday. He might have got a bang in the same spot and be out for 10 days, or more.”
The frenchman continued, “If Cristiano, Gareth and Karim are at 100 per cent, then they play. But that does not mean they must always play. We have many games.

“My idea is to always rotate, so that players think at any moment they will be called to play. They all need to play, that’s my idea.”
