UEFA have announced the 11 players for its official 2018 Team of the Year. They include Ter Stegen; Ramos, Van Dijk; Marcelo, Modric, Kante, Hazard; Mbappe, Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo. While Messi received 107326 votes, his rival Ronaldo garnered 108423. With 4 players included in the current Best XI, Madrid have now overtaken Barca for most appearances in the UEFA Team of the Year.

Manchester United have announced that Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. An interim manager will be appointed until the end of the season.
A statement from the club confirmed that, ‘Manchester United announces that manager Jose Mourinho has left the club with immediate effect. ‘The club would like to thank Jose for his work during his time at Manchester United and to wish him success in the future. ‘A new caretaker manager will be appointed until the end of the current season, while the club conducts a thorough recruitment process for a new, full-time manager.’

The 55 year-old was fired after strings of unimpressive performances by the club. The latest being Sunday’s defeat at Liverpool, closing a tenure that began in May 2016. The Red Devils are 19 points behind Liverpool.
Lyon’s manager Bruno Genesio could replace the Portuguese at Manchester United. The Frenchman is currently on his way to England to finalize the deal, league sources tell Libero Lyon. Former Real Madrid manager, Zinedine Zidane is another favourite to be Manchester United’s next manager.

He spoke of his intentions to remain with the Los Blancos shortly after winning the highly coveted prize on Monday evening: “I have two years left and hopefully one more [on my Madrid contract]. The club show me a lot of affection and I’d like to retire at Real Madrid. My family enjoy it and I want to keep enjoying this huge club.”

The Confederation of African Football has released the list of nominees for various categories of the CAF Awards 2018. 

3 Super Eagles players have been nominated for 2018 Africa Player of the Year; they include Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi, and Odion Ighalo.
Leicester City’s Winfred Ndidi has been nominated for 2018 Africa Youth Player of the Year. Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr also picked a nomination.
For the women’s category, Asisat Oshoala, Desire Oparanozia, Francisca Ordega, Onome Ebi were shortlisted in the Womenr African player of the year.
The winners for the African Player of the Year and Women’s Player of the Year will be decided by the CAF Technical & Development Committee, Media Experts, Legends, Coaches of the quarter-finalists of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup and Coaches and Captains of the national teams of the 54 Member Associations.
The Awards Gala will be held on Tuesday, 8 January 2019 in Dakar, Senegal.
