I paid N1.3million to my wife's abductors – Super Eagles midfielder, Ogude

Fegor Ogude says he paid N1.3m to resuce his wife

Ogude has revealed that he paid N1.3million for the release of his wife, Maimunat
who was abducted on January 4 in Warri, Delta State.  In
a chat with TheCable, the Amkar Perm player said he paid N1.3m to her
abductors.
“Well, I paid nothing much for her release. I paid
N1.3m, though they demanded N30m.
 “She is alright but I
have to ensure that she is.
“I have taken her to the
hospital for proper medical tests and checkup because the kind of ordeal she
must have gone through in the hands of the armed men is nothing to be taken for
granted. I have to be sure that she is very okay.
“In spite of the unexpected
occurrence, I was still a very happy man.
“You know that a lot of
people will go there and won’t come back alive, so I am happy that she is
alright and alive.
“She was taken to a very
bad place, a swampy forest, a dirty place to be kept for almost a week. Imagine
what she must have faced during the number of days she was kept there. But I am
thanking God that I got her back alive.
“It is her life that’s the
most important thing to me.” He disclosed.

FiFa sacks general secretary, Jerome Valcke

Jerome Valcke, has been
sacked as the General Secretary of FIFA following allegations that he profited
from last World Cup ticket sales. Markus Kattner has been named as replacement.
The 55 year-old who initially was suspended in September was dismissed few days
ago by the world governing body who also recommended a 9-year ban for him. His suspension is still valid.

statement from FIFA
“The FIFA Emergency
Committee decided, on 9 January 2016, to dismiss Jerome Valcke from the
position of FIFA Secretary General with immediate effect. Jerome Valcke is therefore
no longer the Secretary General of FIFA. Jerome Valcke was
provisionally released from his duties as Secretary General on 17 September
2015, and on 7 January 2016, formal adjudicatory proceedings were opened
against him by the adjudicatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee chaired by
Hans-Joachim Eckert. The provisional suspension
imposed on Jerome Valcke on 8 October 2015 and extended on 6 January 2016
continues to be valid”

Vandals at work. Lionel Messi’s name and shirt number has been scrawled on a statue of Cristiano Ronaldo which the Portuguese unveiled sometime 2014 in Funchal, Portugal. 
The painting which was done few hours before the Ballon d’Or event has since been cleaned off.
“It’s a shameful act committed out of jealousy towards him,” Ronaldo’s sister Katia Aveiro reacted.

2016 budget documents missing from National Assembly

Haven’t heard more embarrassing news in a while.
The hard and soft copies of the 2016 N6.08 trillion budget documents presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari  on December 22, 2015, are now missing.

The announcement was made by Senate Leader, Ali Ndume at a closed-door session. Some lawmakers pointed accusing fingers at the Presidency adding that he quietly withdrew the documents after detecting some discrepancies in them.

“Can you imagine this kind of national embarrassment? “Documents that were presented to us with fanfare have been stolen.” One Senator reacted.

Copies were however not distributed to lawmakers before they proceeded on Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Chairman, Senate Committee of Appropriation, Danjuma Goje , has reportedly been mandated to lead a search for the documents and liaise with the presidency, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters, Ita Enang, and the national planning ministry on the matter.

'Donald Trump's painful truth.' Charly Boy writes

There is no denying that Donald Trump’s actions and words have brought a more entertaining landscape to American politics that is only rivaled by Naija politics at this point.                             Like him or hate him (for your pocket), this man no send una.
Who could have guessed Trump’s longevity in American politics, with his put-outs and the notorious words that roll out of his mouth!?
In September 2015, I did a piece on Trumpology. At the time, I waited for the Republicans to say his famous line “you are fired” for him to sooner-than-later bow out of the White House race. But what did we get? Trump ruling the polls, networks, blogs, social media and all,  hyping the same garbage Donald’s been dishing out. After staying glued to CNN for the past 5 months, I am no longer fazed by Donald’s constant moronic statements…“All Mexicans are rapist and murderers”, “All Muslims are terrorists”, “All Migrants are suicide bombers”, Africans are lazy, like to only make love and steal”
His vile verbal and racist assault is endless and yet unrivaled.
Naijas are currently vexing, boiling over in anger following Donald’s recent miss-yarns against the black race: “Look at African countries like Kenya for instance; those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries”

Truth hurts.
Isn’t this the norm with most of our yahoo yahoo rifrafs called leaders?
It doesn’t matter if the JACKASS is taking a swipe at Obama because he’s from Kenya.
Trump was reported to have said in Indianapolis, U.S. that African Americans were lazy and that Africa needed re-colonization for 100 years.
Now tell me, with the rate of deterioration of the biggest black nation in the world, are we not beating a retreat to prehistoric times?
Donald Trump said… “How do you trust even those who have run away to hide here in the United States, Hiding behind education? I hear they abuse  me in their blogs but I don’t care because even the Internet they are using is ours and we can decide to switch it off from this side. These are people who import everything, including matchsticks.”
As painfully true as this is, can you blame Donald for his verbal missiles, Is this not our current situation? A country that consumes everything and produces nothing. I guess Donald is washing our dirty linen in public and we deserve it. When some of our deceitful leaders have destroyed education in this country, where do we turn to?
So much shit is coming out of this guy’s mouth that I wonder what comes out of his ass. Donald will say anything just to get a reaction, forget about the concept of decency. Try talking policies or anything intellectual count the mother f…ker out. 
My guts feeling tells me that Donald is being a Jackass/Comedian on propose. The bigger plan is yet to unfold, or is he only having a ball, engaging in masturbation?
I see his verbal assault as a strategy; it smells too Naijaish.  He may not really have his eyes on the White House per say, but something about making more bucks because he speaks freely what an alarming silent majority feel but won’t dare say.

N82m Dinner: APC Apologises to Soyinka


The Rivers State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has apologized to Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, over the embarrassment caused him by the recent allegation of embattled
caretaker governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, that the immediate past Rivers State Government under the watch of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi spent a whopping N82 million to organise a birthday dinner in honour of the revered statesman in the state capital, Port Harcourt. Rivers APC in a statement signed by its State Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya and issued Monday in Port Harcourt described Wike’s allegation as unfortunate.


“On behalf of the good people of Rivers State, we hereby tender an unreserved apology to Prof. Soyinka and to assure him that Wike’s vile attempt to link him to an imaginary corruption will fail. This accusation is nothing but the ranting of a drowning man looking for whom to pull into the stinking pool but Wike has over-reached himself this time because Prof. Soyinka is globally renowned as a man of unimpeachable integrity who has never been associated with corruption
in his over 80 years on earth”.
