THE RISE AND RISE OF MUSIC PRODUCER SEAN KEYS

Seun Sanu, better known as Sean Keys’ name may not strike a chord but the music producer’s works speak volumes.
A graduate of computer science/ mathematics at the University of Agriculture Abeokuta, Keys’ impressive profile attracted him to renowned acts who sought and still seeking his professional help; as a matter of fact, he co-produced with the likes of Sheyman on Molejo lori agolo by Bouqui, Kowonje by Big Bamo, Shayo by Bigiano, Ejo Ejo, by Olori oko Infinity, Sheyman’s Lie and Ma nae remix and even produced Sheyman’s hit Wonkulu.
The down-to-earth young dude is who’s been doing what he knows best is currently working on Big bamo’s album and has also worked for Asterix of the RMG records and other artistes.
He is at present running a (music) consultancy firm for Akas and Mr Val of Big dreams entertainment.

SAHARA TV PLACES D'BANJ ON A HOT SEAT

Foremost act, D’banj granted an interview on Sahara TV; he spoke at length on so many issues including his view on the last fuel subsidy removal protest. Enjoy:
Chika: Did you ever dream of being this big in music?
D’banj: I dreamt about this…(Jokes: I’ve a dream!) God is using us to take our message across from Africa to here.
Chika: You are the face of African Pop music don’t you feel a lot of pressure?
D’banj: Yes a lot of pressure but I have nothing to be scared of. I have much responsibility.
Chika: There are rumors that you are dating Genevieve Nnaji how true is that?
D’banj: No! We are not dating.
Chika: What is your status?
D’banj: I’m very single. I like Rihanna, I’m interested in her.
Chika: Will you Americanize your music now that you are working mostly in America…..(D’banj cuts in)
D’banj: What do you mean by Americanize?
Chika: I mean you use a lot of pidgin and yoruba in your music will you still do that?
D’banj: Yes I’ll, did you hear scapegoat? fall in love or oliver twist? I do music depending on the message and who I want it to suite.
Chika: So will you maintain the identity?
D’banj: I think American music is universal so I’ve a lot of work to do.
Chika: Ok, now on your interview with the President of Nigeria, there are talks that you collected money from him to sing and interview him.
D’banj: I didn’t collect money from the President. It wasn’t an interview it was a request, watch the interview I asked the President and I can remember the statements “What are your plans for the Nigerian youth?” because I dedicated a track to him so I wanted the people to know why I said I was going to vote for him, I wanted them to know his plans.

Chika: We understand you run a foundation and you were appointed as the United Nations youth ambassador for peace, with your position what are your responsibilities and what have you done with you position?
D’banj: I have much responsibility. I represent Africa, I represent Nigeria…do your research.
Chika: What was your take on the Occupy Nigeria and the fuel subsidy removal?
D’banj: 1st of all, lets take a minute silence for those who lost their lives during this period
Chika: Ok D’banj we really appreciate that, so carry on.
D’banj: I did not know anything that was happening [in Nigeria during protests] because I was working on my album in the UK.
Chika: But there was a protest in London why didn’t you participate?
D’banj: I didn’t know anything that was happening in London about the feul protest because I was working… I am not a politician! And everyone that knows me well knows I don’t like cold, so I couldn’t go outside.
Chika: So what do you have to say?
D’banj: I don’t have anything to say, I wasn’t in the country when it was happening.
Chika: But I wasn’t in the country also.
D’banj: I’ve told you I don’t want to say anything about that topic, I don’t say what I don’t know anything about, If you know me very well I speak about what I know. I will not speak on something that I don’t know about. You will not get me to speak about what I don’t know. I wish my publicist told me that this was a political interview… (Chika cuts in)
Chika: So who operates your twitter handle?
D’banj: I operate it but I’m not always online, I’m on twitter when I want to pass an information not when you want me to.
Chika: There has been increase in poverty in Nigeria what do you have to say about this?
D’banj:  Yes I know, but poverty has always been in Nigeria. Let us focus on what we have,why are you hammering on negativity? I’ll speak from the angle that I know well which is the entertainment, that is what I know we can export, we should invest our talents to escape from poverty. I’ve a concert tomorrow, I need to practice and prepare well so I can represent Africa well.
Chika: Thank you very much D’banj. We appreciate the time you spent with us, we wish you all the best in your concert tomorrow.

Now, this interview has sparked off and is still sparking off so many reactions on social media; notably facebook and twitter.
Personally, this is not-too impressive. As the voice of the Nigerian youth (as people claim), too whom much is given much is expected, some answers were better left unspoken. How would you say you weren’t aware of the occupy Nigeria/London protests?

The sub-head ‘OMG its Akon’ is eliciting the right reaction(s). Most people would see Akon’s appearance as unbelievable, his rich smile and innocent look has done justice to the cover.

For the lovers, Fidel teams up with singer X-Ella to create the Butta produced “You Are”. Firstly, the piano led instrumentation does not get better, followed by the well delivered rap verses and “X” doing justice on the chorus. This is not just another love song, it is the love song.

MUSIC: EDDIEKIM TO DROP GBAGAUN VIDEO

Adediran Adedolapo Abudulakeem, also known as Eddiekim is a Nigerian Afro hip-hop musician born in the early 80s to a family of seven, he discovered his talent in music in 1998.
In secondary school, He often mimed to the lyrics of foreign artistes like, P Diddy, Tupac, Jarule etc in special school events like interhouse sports competitions and the likes.
His first song “If I could” was recorded in March 1999. Shortly after, he joined Wicked squad family; an Okota/Isolo-based musci group.

After his secondary education he studied Sound Engineering for three years at Dbazz studios, Ejigbo. He worked at HIGH HEAVENS studio, Ikeja where he met with Olu Maintain, who was then recording his album, Fantasy.
He had a smooth relationship with Olu maintain, unknown to many, Olu’s timbahammer, first thing na hummer …” , “owo n be lapo mi …” phrases in his yahoozee song were actually from one of Eddiekim’s recorded tracks aptly titled Timbahammer written in 2005.
They parted ways in 2008 due to irreconcilable differences. He joined Tetuila records where he did some songs with the crew (TR Records).
Eddeikim also has flair for acting. He featured in Nollywood actress, Laide Bakare’s movie, IJOYA alongside other actors.
He featured in the Tribute song to the late Yoruba lyricist, DA’GRIN, titled MY PAIN, which also had stars like EL DEE, BANKY W, RUGGEDMAN, KSB, OMAWUNMI, JAYWON  to mention a few. The song was produced by Sheyman. His line in the song was ‘Salute to the king its ur boi Eddiekim.’

He is presently signed on to NXTBEAT Records, headed by Akinwale Oluwaleimu; his first single Effizzi, dropped in March 2009
His yet-to-be released debut album features acts like Femi Adeyinka, Jaywon, 9ice, Puffy tee, and more. Notable Producers who has worked on his album include Puffy Tee (Olu maintain’s Yahooze), flip tyls (P squares’ chop my money), masterkraft (essence’s facebook love) to mention a few!

He performed at the Gbenga Adeyinka and friends show in ibadan, at the Best of Nollywoods awards night and at Akure Mare festival which had the likes of 9ice, Olamide, Lord of Ajasa and many more in 2011.
His shot a video of one of his songs, GBAGAUN ft OJB jazreel!
The song which has been enjoying massive airplay was produced by maverick songwriter/singer and Producer, OJB Jezreel. The video was shot by ace Nigerian cinematographer DJ Tee! The video would be released soon.
For this promising dude, the sky is definitely the stepping stone.

PHOTOS: FANS PAY TRIBUTE OUTSIDE WHITNEY HOUSTON'S CHURCH

Quite emotional! Late iconic pop singer, Whitney Houston’s funeral is taking place in her home town of Newark, New Jersey today.
Though the ceremony is private and only by invitation, fans have dropped colourful flowers and messages outside the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark where Houston sung in the church choir as a child, about 1,500 people have been invited to the ceremony.
She is scheduled to be buried beside her father, John Russell Houston, at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

"ABDULMUTALLAB'S SENTENCE IS CRUEL"

Anthony Chambers, counsel to Nigerian terrrorist, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab has termed the sentence given to the innocent-looking boy who attempted to blow up a U.S-bound plane on Christmas Day in 2009 as cruel and unconstitutional.

Abdulmutallab who pleaded guilty to a failed terrorist attack in October showed no signs of remorse but he rather called it a revenge mission against United States for their ill treatment of muslims.

His attorney has argued that the mandatory life sentence be appealed/reduced as the plot to blow up the plane eventually failed.

The notice of appeal was posted on Friday in the electronic court record for federal court in Detroit.
