NIGERIA FOOD INDUSTRY AWARDS: DISEASES ASSOCIATED WITH UNHEALTHY EATING&PREVENTIONS (PT 1)

Health they say is wealth.
The body relies on the nutrients it gets from food to keep it running smoothly and in good health. In today's society, the abundance of over-processed, high-calorie, low-nutrient foods is responsible for a range of illnesses and diseases. Although a lack of food and nutrition is commonly associated with poor diet-related illnesses, overconsumption is just as much of a problem.Coronary Heart DiseaseCoronary heart disease is a narrowing of the blood vessels that carry oxygen and blood to the heart. People who eat too much animal fat, especially saturated fat, are at risk of coronary heart disease, as consuming too much fat causes the excess to block the passageways of blood and oxygen to the heart.
High Blood PressureBlood pressure is a measure of the force of blood produced by the heart as well as the condition of the arteries.
When an individual has high blood pressure, undue stress and strain is being placed upon the heart to enable it to pump blood throughout the body.
Foods that are high in sodium and saturated fats, as well as a lack of adequate hydration in the diet, can all lead to high blood pressure.
Type 2 DiabetesType 2 diabetes is a disorder in which the blood has too much glucose in it that the body cannot process. Diabetes is often caused by diets that are too high in calories and sugar.
CancerBecause poor nutrition causes the immune system to be weakened, a poor diet can often prohibit the body from fighting off certain types of cancers. Those individuals who do not get enough vitamins and nutrients in their food are at risk of cancer caused by immune deficiency.
ObesityObesity is a common problem in today's society, in which inactivity and poor diet is rampant. Foods that are high in sugar and saturated fats lead to obesity, which can open the door to a number of other diseases, including heart problems and diabetes.Preventions:(To be cont'd in Part 2)Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/84174-illnesses-caused-bad-diet #ixzz1tjg7xrzfTo read and know more about "The Nigeria Food Industry Awards" as well as "The 2012 Hunger Day" as being marked in Nigeria, please visit: www.nfiawards.comor facebook.com/nfiawards

GENEVIEVE NNAJI&STEPHANIE OKEREKE JOIN HOLLYWOOD'S ISAIAH WASHINGTON, VIVICA FOX, JIMMY JEAN-LOUIS FOR “DOCTOR BELLO”

Our stars are going places and we totally love this new development. And so two of Nollywood's best actresses, Genevieve Nnaji and Stephanie Okereke will join Hollywood's Isaiah Washington, Vivica A. Fox, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Bern Cohen in a blockbuster film labelled, 'Dr bello'.
Written and directed by award-winning producer Tony Abulu, the film's theme states, "The Cure for Cancer has been found in the Sky Mountains of Africa, and an American Oncologist will risk everything to get it."
Scheduled for release in 2012, Doctor Bello is the first movie project financed in part by the recently established Nigerian Intervention Fund for the arts and entertainment industry administered by NEXIM Bank.

SYNOPSIS

Dr. Michael Durant, a cancer specialist in a bid to overcome his emotional trauma, having lost his 10year old daughter to cancer develops a relationship with Sam, a sick but boisterous seven year old son of a rich Jewish couple who are major donors to the hospital's cancer research fund.

Determined to save Sam who later goes into coma, a Nigerian Nurse persuades him to visit Dr. Bello, an inexperienced Nigerian Doctor who is known in Brooklyn-African underground as a miracle worker.

Sam recovers speedily after Dr. Bello secretly visits him at night and dispenses a strange African medicine. Surprised by the new twist, the hospital medical board investigates the case and suspends Dr. Durant.

Dr. Bello who is later arrested and indicted for medical malpractices falls critically ill in jail and can only be saved if he administers the same medicine which can only be found in the mysterious "garden of life" located on the peak of Nigeria's sky mountains.
