SNOOP DOG CHANGES NAME, EMBRACES REGGAE STYLE
While recording his Reincarnated album in the Jamaica, the 40year-old rapper embraced reggae style; resulting in a three-part project: a reggae album, documentary and coffee-table photo book, all under the name of Snoop Lion.
He told reporters he's now 'born again' and wants to make music that his kids and grandparents can listen to. "I have always said I was Bob Marley reincarnated. I have always been a Rastafari.". He added.
During his stay in Jamaica, he said, he visited a temple and he was renamed Snoop Lion. He was also christened Berhane, an Ethiopian name which means "light of the world".
But what happens to rap?
"Rap isn't challenging; it's not appealing. Reggae was calling … it's a breath of fresh air. It feels like I'm 19 or 20 years old again," he said.
Bob Marley's son Rohan attended the conference and gave Snoop his blessing.

Crystal Deroche is an established and respected celebrity fashion Stylist/Creative Director, Nigerian descent , born and raised in Paris, the city of high fashion and elegance, she developed a strong passion for shapes, colours and texture . Working alongside photographers such as Charl Marais and Juan Trujillo allowed her to shape and perfect her art, and gain recognition from established designers such as Jean Pierre Braganza, Aminaka Wilmont, Dior and John Rochas. She is now regularly published in magazines such as Pride,Sublime, Fashizblack, UMNO, Fashionisto, Shout, and FAB.
She regularly takes part in London and Paris fashion Week, as well as the both the MTN Lagos Fashion and Design week and Arise fashion week where she views collections of establised and emerging designers to plan for future editorials.
She worked at the International Fashion Showcase, a joint venture between the British Council and the British Fashion Council to support talented emerging designers. She was lately requested by Fashionisto to produce an editorial story to launch their printed version of the publication in New York .
OH TV also commissioned her to manage the image of Lola Ogunbadejo, one of their top presenters on the show ‘Africa Rising ‘,diffused across UK & Africa.
Her latest accomplishment is the ad campaign she did for Superdrug; a UK brand that stocks the biggest and best brands in health and beauty products, which was unveiled at their Westfield Stratford store, close to the Olympic Village
In a couple of weeks, she will be launching her own show; The Crystal Deroche show, which will focus mainly on styling regular people in chic, stylish and affordable outfits. Videos and pictures of this show will be made available to the public and will be open to everyone, both in Africa and Europe.
