'It will not stop me from continuing the good work'- Didier Drogba reacts to charity funds allegation.

Montreal Impact player, Didier Drogba is taking legal actions against British newspaper, Daily Mail over allegations that his The Didier Drogba Foundation an organisation set up to help sick people in Africa  misused donations meant for charity purpose. 
Yesterday, the media outfit claimed only 1% of £1.7million in the coffers of the organization went to charity and that the rest was spent on lavish fundraising parties. The outfit also also added that contrary to claims that the foundation has built a hospital and 5 clinics in Ivory Coast, only 1 hospital with no equipment or personnel was built. 

Reacting to the allegations, the Chelsea legend said he will begin legal proceedings against the media house over the accusations adding that he used his own money to pay for fundraising events. “There is no fraud, no corruption, no mismanagement, no lies, no impropriety.”

“Their attempts to destroy the work of the Foundation will not deter me and will not stop me continuing the work we have begun.”He affirmed.

"Let Us Raise Our Son In Peace"- Daniel Ademinokan speaks on his relationship with Doris Simeon.

Nollywood Director, Daniel Ademinokan has denied tales hovering around that he is distancing his son, David who recently turned 8 from his ex wife, Doris Simeon. Setting the records straight in a recent Facebook post, the filmmaker noted that despite separating from the fair skinned actress many years ago, they still maintain a cordial relationship.
 With a huge smile on my face I state boldly; I am NOT A CELEBRITY. I am just a simple guy who who has been blessed to make films and I am a product of God’s grace. I am just the simple Delta Pikin who God has blessed with a million ideas and the ability to bring these ideas into reality. I see my self as a worker in the entertainment business, the same way people are workers in banks, telecommunication, law, medicine, etc. I just want to do my work and make the world a better place.
However, my life has been an open book for the world. Its a bitter sweet feeling though. I need everyone to take a chill pill about the negative comments towards my ex-wife and I with our son David. The young man just turned 8 and is doing great. He has a great relationship with his mother and we are OK. I don’t like the fact that the media and hateful people will start cooking up details constantly trying to make me look bad. I’m trying to be a great father to my son the best way possible. I really didn’t want to address this but I guess sometimes you just have to grab the bull by the horn and deal with it. I have been accused of being evasive on this matter by declining to grant interviews to the press. Call it silence, foolishness. being evasive or even maturity; but it is how I have chosen to handle this. David has continued to have a healthy relationship with his mother and it has NEVER stopped. I am not the person who posts every single detail of his family’s private life on social media but today I will share with the ‘hateful people’ and kind hearted fans alike just two of the pictures of David and his mother taken here in Atlanta a few months ago on one of her numerous visits. Do I have to post every phone conversation, picture and visit for everyone to sleep at night? LOL.
Please, let us raise our son in peace. I am praying for God to give the ‘bitter people’, ‘jobless people’ and ‘sad-u-sees’ something more meaningful to do with their time, rather than fabricate stories that are non existent for their personal, momentary and monetary satisfaction, totally oblivious of the fact that they are tarnishing the character and name that some of us have spent time to build.
I will leave you with this thought; a person who has been down and out before does not preach or scream condemnation. He/she screams mercy and grace. I have been down and I know how it feels to be there, so all I can do is pray for grace over your life. If you are down and you still don’t have a heart of mercy and grace…I leave you in God’s hands.

‘Celebrities, phone calls and the ‘rude’ ones’ – Ali Baba writes

I have often sat down to review the stress that goes with being open. And every time I find myself coming to the conclusion that ONE BAD APPLE DON’T SPOIL THE WHOLE BUNCH.
But trust me, that one bad apple can be so annoyingly distasteful. Not just because of how the person who called and hung up did it, but the fact that you must have left something important to take the call.
When you are just laying around you can pass it off as one of those calls but when you were busy, it takes a different shade. However, and very sadly too, when you finally pick a persistent call and the person hangs up, it just eats you up on very different levels.
I am one of those artistes who has made his line public. I take as many calls as I can especially from those who take the pain of sending a text message first. It’s not just sending a text, but adding their names. Some will call a number as late as 2am and still tell people you don’t pick calls; My phone Na call centre? By the way, when they tell those people you don’t pick calls because you are feeling too big, they edit out the time they made the call.
In January, I met and got talking with a lady while waiting for my ride at EKO Hotel. She said she had a complaint to make about a colleague of mine. That she called him and he never called her back. So when I saw the guy I mentioned it. He told me how she calls at odd times and he did not want to pick her calls because he had sent a message to ask what she was calling about and she never replied.
Me wey no like that kind thing, I quickly called her. She said she doesn’t like sending texts and asked is that why he could not call back or pick his call, when she didn’t reply his text. I did not know what to say. There is no one, celebrity or not, who likes being hung up on. Or anyone who likes being called when they are busy. More so when who ever is calling is not familiar or already introduced.
I know some will say, I should zip it. Yet those same people, will in their own level get irritated by this same thing I am About. Let’s respect one another & stop taking people for granted….

Blazing A Trail! Nigerian girl emerges student of the year at US varsity.

  •  A Nigerian girl, Nneoma Nwankwo has emerged the student of the year at Virginia Polytechnic  and Institute and State University. 

    The award recognizes a graduating student who has achieved overall excellence during his or her undergraduate career at the university. It’s the most prestigious non-academic undergraduate award given at Virginia Tech and is awarded to a student who has exceptional and balanced achievement in academics, leadership, and service.

    Come May, 2016, Nneoma who has maintained a 3.9 GPA will graduate with a degree in Political Science. Nwankwo is minoring in public and urban affairs and creative writing.

  • Nwankwo said: “At Virginia Tech, I have been challenged to live in service to others. I have learned how to lead boldly as I pursue my global development interests. Ultimately, I have discovered that Ut Prosim (That I May Serve) is an active verb, and when I serve those around me, I create a meaningful life for myself.” She said.
     In fall 2013, she undertook an independent study on the negative effects of poor menstrual hygiene management (MHM) on the education and socio-economic empowerment of girls in undeserved areas of sub-Saharan Africa.
    She has held many leadership positions across campus. She served as the fundraising chair for the African Students Association and raised money for a local charity in Ethiopia. Fluent in English and Igbo and conversationally proficient in French, Yoruba, and Swahili. She is a coach at the Virginia Tech Writing Center and was international columnist for the Collegiate Times student-run newspaper.
    She was recipient of the Overton R. Johnson Scholarship and the Accenture Scholarship. She has accepted a full-time position at Citibank in New York City. She will continue to conduct research on MHM.

Basking in the euphoria of his new feat, hat-trick maestro, Cristiano Ronaldo has described his team’s qualification last night as a well-deserved victory for the Blancos. The 31 year-old put up a scintillating show and netted his 37th hat-trick for his club against Wolfsburg on Tuesday helping Real Madrid to overcome a 20 deficit and helping them reach the semi-finals of the Champions League game.

The Portuguese reckons goal-scoring is effortless to him. He told UEFA.com “Goals are in my DNA. The side played well, we came into the match strongly. We played with intensity in the opening minutes and we scored two quick goals. We controlled the game. Wolfsburg were good: they used the ball well, but I think over 90 minutes we were better. We created more chances and we deserve to get to the next round,” said the Portuguese international.

Meet the Ghanaian monarch who works as a mechanic in Germany.

In this part of the world, being a mechanic is really not a dignifying. Now imagine a monarch working as one….totally unfathomable right?
Togbe Ngoryifia Cephas Kosi Bansah works as a mechanic in Gemany and at the same time is the  superior and spiritual chief of Ewe people of Gbi kingdom in Eastern Ghana.  He governs his people (about 300,000) over Skype. 
The 67 year-old moved to Germany in 1970 and was advised by his grandfather to learn the mechanic trade.  
Years later, His grandfather, the King of Hohoe, died and Bansah’s father and eldest brother were deemed unfit to rule because they were left-handed, which the Ewe people considered to be ‘unclean’. He succeeded him but continued his trade in Germany. 
He resides in Ludwigshafen where  with his wife Gabriele Bansah, 57 and his two children Carlo and Katharina live. Cephas visits Ghana up to eight times per year.

Ozil, Vardy, Harry Kane, others nominated for PFA player of the year award

Tottenham’s Harry Kane, Assist king, Mesut Ozil and Jamie Vardy have been nominated for the annual Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Player Of The Year Award. Other players who made the shortlist include Leicester City’s midfielder and striker, N’Golo Kante and Riyad Mahrez;  and Dmitri Payet. The gong was won last year by Chelsea’s  Eden Hazard.
